Did you know over 50 years ago, King County voters rejected a rapid transit system that would have been 75% funded by the federal government? Seattle would have looked a lot different than it does today. Fast forward, Seattle now has a light rail transportation system and with a plan to expand commuters and residents will have easier access to the city and surrounding areas. Sylwia Jarosz discusses in this video what the light rail means for real estate and how the expansion plan could affect your investment and home. . . . #everydoorrealestate #realestate #washingtonrealestate #edre #everydoorre #residentialrealestate #seattle #pnwlife #lightrailexpansion #masstransit #transportation #masstransportation #trainsystem #lightrailseattle #lightrail #lightrailtrain #everett #tacoma #downtownseattle #seattlewa #sodo #ballard #redmondwa #westseattle #publictransportation

#WestYorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin has unveiled proposals for a new tram system that will run between #Leeds and #Bradford, with a later extension to #Dewsbury also a possibility. Subject to being agreed at a final Combined Authority meeting this week, this will represent a major step forward for the area’s proposed mass transit scheme. The first phase is planned to begin construction in 2028 and begin operation by the early 2030s. Future phases are intended to follow and the Combined Authority plan to work with Kirklees Council to look into how to include a Dewsbury Line in future. The full network is projected to be completed by 2040. The first phase would include two lines between Leeds and Bradford: The Leeds Line and the Bradford Line. The Leeds Line would take people between St James’ Hospital, through Leeds city centre and on to Elland Road and the White Rose Shopping Centre. The Bradford Line would run from Leeds city centre to Bradford city centre – also linking Bradford Forster Square station with the new Bradford rail station. This line supports Bradford’s plans to regenerate the city’s southern gateway, which includes the new Bradford rail station. A consultation this summer will see the public asked for their views on potential route options for the first phase of #masstransit The Combined Authority will also work on a £1 million Mass Transit development fund to be set aside to support the Dewsbury Line Development Project, which will look into how to get mass transit to connect #Kirklees with Leeds. The mass transit system will form a key part of a wider integrated transport system in the region, integrating with bus, rail, cycling and walking, so that everyone can get across the region with ease. The Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin, said: ‘Today is a key milestone in our plan to create a better-connected region that works for all. By setting out our plans to submit to government, we are taking a major step forward towards the biggest infrastructure project West Yorkshire has seen since the development of the motorways six decades ago. ‘This will be transformational for the North, helping our communities to thrive and our economy to flourish – benefitting generations to come with greater opportunity and prosperity. ‘We know that mass transit systems have successfully helped to regenerate areas right across the country by boosting connectivity, opportunity and prosperity – and we will work tirelessly to make sure that happens here in West Yorkshire.’ 🔻🔻🔻 Click/tap image below to see video on YouTube 🔻🔻🔻

Interstate 26 is South Carolina’s Main Street. I-26 connects South Carolinians with work and educational opportunities, supports the state’s economic activity, and welcomes guests who travel to the Palmetto State for work or play. From the foothills of the Upstate to the marshes of the Lowcountry, bridges serve as vital links along I-26, connecting stretches of roadway and providing an uninterrupted drive. In fact, there are 145 total bridges on I-26, crossing over roads, railroads, and bodies of water. Pictured are two I-26 bridges over US 29 in Spartanburg County that see an average of 53,900 vehicles per day. With a growing state population and traffic projected to continue increasing, our work to Fix I-26 will continue to be a priority for SCDOT – bridges and all.

Today U.S. Department of Transportation announced the 2024 recipients for the annual #RAISE Grant. These grants will distribute monies for a variety of connectivity and mobility projects across the U.S. and the territories for everything from ports to pedestrian sidewalks. A few of these included rail and multimodal components as well. In the Central and Southwest U.S. the two that stand out include the City of Rapid City #SouthDakota which will pursue a comprehensive safety and improvement plan for a variety of at-grade crossings downtown. In addition, the I-40 TradePort Corridor is also included. This project will plan the development of a regional multi-hub supply chain system stretching approximately 805 miles through California, Arizona, and New Mexico. Planning activities will focus on two hubs in #Arizona and one hub in #NewMexico. Shout out to Adam Wasserman, Bernalillo County, Albuquerque Regional Economic Alliance, Port of Los Angeles, CIty of Winslow, City Of Kingman, Elevate Rapid City, South Dakota Department of Transportation, and many other for their work on these efforts! https://lnkd.in/gjbXf-Q3

Challenges in bringing back transit riders after COVID - and already declining ridership prior to COVID - will lead to a $730 million annual "fiscal cliff" beginning in 2026 after federal emergency funds are expended. New and innovative strategic plans from RTA and Metra, CMAP's Plan of Action for Regional Transit, and legislation sponsored by State Sen. Ram Villivalam and Rep. Eva-Dina Delgado to consolidate the RTA and its three service boards are all bold steps to leverage the moment to fundamentally rethink how we deliver mobility in Northeast Illinois. Specific to NW Arkansas, ARDOT is currently planning a 7 mile stretch of highway north of Springdale that will cost $180m. For comparison, that would also be around the cost for ARDOT to install safe, separated bike path along every state highway within NWA city limits. ARDOT, instead, refuses to spend a cent on bike infrastructure, even forcing the cities to fund the bike paths along Hwy 112's improvement project. I once heard the phrase, "Don't tell me your values. Tell me your budget, and I will tell you your values." It's crystal clear, from ARDOT's budget and design standards, that they value the fast throughput of cars at all costs, even if that cost is NWA residents' life and limb.
$5–7.5 billion: Interstate Bridge Replacement, Oregon and Washington. $735 million–$1 billion: The Mid-States Corridor, Indiana. $1.5–4 billion: The Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, New York.
