🌟 My 8-Week Journey at ALX: A Transformational Experience 🌟 Over the last 8 weeks, I embarked on an incredible learning journey at ALX, diving deep into the world of Virtual Assistance. It was challenging, insightful, and, most importantly, rewarding. One of my proudest achievements during this time was completing my first real-world VA project. It was a milestone that solidified my confidence in my abilities and reaffirmed my decision to pursue this path. But no journey is ever walked alone. I couldn’t have done this without my VA heroes; My brother-Victor, Godwin, Peace, Dad, Elvis. Their support, encouragement, and advice kept me motivated, especially during the tough days. 🚀 Week 1 of my Virtual Assistant Journey with ALX! Week 1 was all about getting familiar with ALX as an organization and the Virtual Assistant course. I learned about ALX's mission, pledge, and core values, which truly align with the goals of developing professional and personal skills. Progress Update: I was introduced to the Virtual Assistant course overview and became a member of the ALXVA community. This week, we also explored the Do’s and Don’ts of the program to ensure we understand how to get the best out of the learning experience. ALX Values - CHAIR: One of the highlights of Week 1 was discovering ALX’s core values, represented by the acronym CHAIR: - C for Courage - H for Humility - A for Adventure - I for Initiative - R for Resilience Key Takeaway: The most exciting discovery was that although the course is virtual, the ALX community fellowship ensures that you never feel isolated. I’ve already connected with like-minded individuals and built meaningful relationships through genuine interactions. 360 degree professionals. Sometimes the way to get that is to look at smaller companies. A benefit of large strategics is the ability to build deep functional expertise. Surrounded by sharp people and guided by managers with decades of experience in the process and “how we do it here.” But a little bit of general business skill is important to grow professionally. And a fast place to get it is at a smaller company. Reminds me of the old Novartis rule - in order to be considered for commercial leadership, you had to have marketing or finance experience, along with formal sales management. Not simply attending a Walmart or CVS Health meeting - no kidding carrying a quota and managing a remote work force. Separately, Mike Moore and Holly Scott sound prescient with their observation of #medtech activity and predictions of increased funding and M&A after a quiet period.
