Pollard Thomas Edwards mention their refurbishment of the pre-war Barnsbury Estate, which as far as I know has yet to happen, but not their proposed rebuilding of the post-ward Barnsbury Estate - at thee times the density of the existing pleasantly low-key and well-treed estate, including the loss of about 140 trees I think. Space and greenery are indeed vital to successful housing but, per head, the future inhabitants of the this estate are going to have very much less of them than the existing, and inevitably much less light too since the buildings will be on average about double the height and double the footprint of the existing. We need more housing but it should be provided in places where that is possible without detracting from the setting of the existing housing
