We're delighted to share the completion of New Acres designed for Legal & General and providing over 1000 new rental homes in Zone 2. This stunning new build-to-rent development, one of the largest in London, opens up commuter routes and creates new pedestrian access between the riverside and Wandsworth Town station. In an area previously dominated by car-centric design, New Acres is designed to put the pedestrian first. Residents have easy access to a variety of amenities and open spaces, including new green public realm, a 25m heated outdoor lido, and extensive cycle storage to encourage a healthy lifestyle. With 35% affordable housing and 75% already let, New Acres is set to become a vibrant new quarter for Wandsworth and South West London. Congratulations to everyone involved! Love this scheme, its one of very few that got away, having acheived the oriignal planning consent for London Square for the B&Q site on a STP Deal, then the business not progressing the purchase, still remember Phil Catcheside at Hawkins Brown presenting their multiple point block concept - it was great and added 100 more units than an old fashioned linear or U shaped solution - it was 4 units a core so everything 100% duel aspect way before GLA guidance, more expensive to build with more facade etc, but 100 extra units covered the costs - sad that today with 2 staircases it would never be viable. Surely staircases should be based on number of people per floor to evacuate - but don’t get me started - anyway well done L&G looks great!
