You may (or may not) have seen this viral video from Vestaire Collective doing the rounds…   The AR video created by the second-hand resell fashion platform as a part of their recent campaign calls out the 92million tonnes of textile waste which is discarded every year.    Specifically, what this waste would like in context piled high on the streets of Times Square.    Both parts shocking and impactful in its use of modern tech to create striking content, the video has undoubtedly made its mark alongside the accompanying announcement that Vestaire will be banning a long list of fast fashion brands from their resell platform, including giants like Zara, H&M and Mango.    Which may lead you to wonder… why restrict people’s ability to resell their fast fashion items back into a circular economy?    Because banning resale is a quick and effective way to make people think TWICE about whether they really want to spend money on that wear-it-once item if they: 1) know the environmental implications of that product and  2) won’t be able to make a quick profit when they decide they don’t want it anymore.    Some may argue controversial, I say clever.  Fair Play to Verstaire Collective for using their platform for real change.    #thinkfirstbuysecond #circularfashion #fastfashion #circulareconomy

This is a great initiative from the Ellen MacArthur Foundation that solves the overproduction issue by transforming the fashion business model.
