In October 2021, about half of Americans (49%) said this was a major problem where they live—and this is up 10 percentage points from early 2018. I traveled to Tucson AZ to help #lead a 2 day 16-hour training for the Amph Panteras Tenants Empowerment Program. My portion included interactive activities, group discussions and specific techniques custom developed to: learn conflict resolution skills through conscious clear communication, daily practical self care routines, easy effective mindshifts to reduce stress and a step by step process to write their inspiring housing experience story. (KGUN) — For those in the Amphi neighborhood, it's more than just a collection of houses and businesses. It's a special community of friends and family. Hassan Clement has lived in the area for about four years. He joined the neighborhood association, advocating for change to improve the area for everyone. When his apartment needed repairs, he said the landlord was silent and didn't respond to any of his inquiries. "Our apartments here, 17 people needed repairs from anything from non-operating refrigerators and AC units to toilets and sinks," he said. "And we were not getting a response from the people that own the property. We had to find a way to work and get the fit and habitable houses that we pay rent for." So he and other neighbors partnered with Ward 3 and other local groups like Old Pueblo Community Services to create the Amphi Panteras Tenant Empowerment Program. About 10 people will be trained and canvas the neighborhood educating people on their rights as tenants.

Excited to see the progress of our master planned community NorthShore, located along the St. Mary’s River in Camden County, Coastal Georgia. This 629-home community at build out includes a market-leading, resort-style amenity package including a 3,400 sqft clubhouse, boat launch, floating dock, observation deck, playground, and passive recreational/sports fields.   NorthShore is a classic Drapac investment play: we identified a prime asset in an undervalued growth market, acquired it for a fraction of the infrastructure value, and added significant value during the hold period by undertaking thoughtful and strategic initiatives to restore and improve the community.   A critical piece of our investment strategy has been to bring in multiple homebuilding partners including 1) Century Communities (NYSE: CCS), 2) Maronda Homes, and 3) Smith Family Homes. This approach has resulted in tremendous success for both the builders and overall community; builders are seeing strong absorption and price growth, and the community is appealing to a wider audience with a range of products and price points.   Camden County is experiencing significant growth due to shifting demographic factors (+8% population and +26% household income growth over the last 5 years) and the expansion of regional economic drivers, which has translated directly to increased demand and home sale prices (+64% over the last 5 years). https://lnkd.in/dKTubEn9

That has to change."⁠ ⁠ After two decades of prioritizing projects that promote affordable housing in Los Angeles, Michael Anderson is working on his most ambitious proposal yet.⁠ ⁠ ⁠The Accelerated Housing and Transit Development is a big-scale neighborhood transformation plan that aims at two of LA’s most vexing problems in 2024: homelessness and gentrification.⁠ ⁠ The AHTD uses Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) transit-stop improvements as a springboard for expanding 40,000 single-family homes in Black and brown neighborhoods into courtyard-living rental properties. ⁠ ⁠ Anderson says that the plan accomplishes several things at once: improves aesthetics, modernizes infrastructure, creates jobs and, most importantly, dramatically increases housing stock while preserving and growing Black communities by making multigenerational living not just viable, but preferable. ⁠ ⁠ Interested to learn more? Maria and the members of Sunnyside United are celebrated as heroes, having shown that even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds, collective action and community spirit can prevail.
