🐝🐝 Save the Bees, Sustain Our Trees! 🌳🌳 Did you know that honeybees play a crucial role in the health of our ecosystems, especially in arboricultural activities? These incredible pollinators are essential for the reproduction of many tree species, which in turn provide habitats, food, and oxygen for countless organisms. As we engage in tree planting and maintenance, let’s prioritize the preservation of honeybee populations. By creating bee-friendly environments, like planting native flowers, reducing pesticide use, and providing water sources, we can support these vital creatures and ensure the sustainability of our forests. United TEM's environmental department aids in the protection and conservation of honeybees and other beneficial animals and habitats through the course of our operations. Together, we can make a difference! Let’s protect our pollinators and promote healthy trees for generations to come. 🌍💚 #SaveTheBees #PollinatorProtection #Arboriculture #SustainableForestry #BeeFriendly #unitedtomakeadifference photo by: Sinan

Located on land traditionally owned by the Boon Wurrung people, Battery Creek Road is found in South Gippsland, Victoria, and is home to a special inhabitant. Between 1999 and 2009 we planted nearly 100,000 native trees here to establish a biodiverse forest. It is now a haven for native birds and wildlife such as kangaroos, wallabies and wombats. The second photo was taken this year on a recent site visit and shows our impact over the last 20 years. In 2013, we made an exciting discovery at Battery Creek: a unique insect species living in the trees. Known as the Bog Gum Psyllid (Ctenarytaina bipartite), these small cicada-like insects exclusively reside in our forest and feed on the young leaves of the Bog Gum tree (Eucalyptus kitsoniana). Over its lifetime this incredible forest will capture more than 23,000 tonnes of CO2-e and, as it is legally protected for 100 years, will continue growing and providing habitat for years to come. Why are flowers so important in Navajoland? Navajoland has traditionally been a bee area, so being able to provide pollen to these animals to create honey and to survive is important. Agriculturists are proud stewards of the land who ensure the longevity of our natural resources. They value biodiversity and sustainability. The land, air, and water are our most precious resources and agriculturalists greatest asset. Many producers are taking steps to protect watersheds and improve soil health. More than half of America’s farmers intentionally provide habitat for wildlife. These efforts have contributed to population increases in native wildlife such as deer, moose and certain species of birds. America’s agriculturalists are innovators committed to building a sustainable food system and leaving a healthy world for future generations. #harvestreturns #supportagriculture #nationalagweek #nationalagweek2024

Are cattle the problem? Absolutely not. Not only do they upcycle grass into high-quality protein for us, but they also help reduce the risk of wildfires through grazing. By doing so, cattle help maintain healthy grasslands and forests. Plus, their grazing patterns promote biodiversity, supporting various plant species and habitats for wildlife. By providing additional water to cattle we are also providing vital water sources for wildlife. Sustainable cattle ranching is a win-win for us and the planet! #cattle #upcycling #cattleranch #ranching #cattleupcycle #sustainability

Cotton Incorporated recognizes the important work that #cotton growers have done to be more #sustainable and how they champion #biodiversity. In recent years, the industry has made significant improvements by implementing more sustainable agricultural practices such as minimum/no tillage and cover crops to promote biodiversity in soil. Additionally, conservation buffers help create and protect robust habitats for wildlife. Growers determine which areas of their farms are underperforming to reevaluate whether they could better improve local wildlife by transforming them into habitats for birds, pollinators, and other species. These practices also help make cotton fields more efficient. To learn more, click here: https://lnkd.in/eW5_a86C #biodiversityday #sustainableag

Creator | Your Online Forester | Christian | Helping Women Sustain Family Forest Legacies Through Scripture
Theres a misconception of “natural” and “pristine” forests. And many times its an argument used to support “no management” by those who DONT own land. Because once you do hold the ownership reigns, your eyes recognize how contrary the unmanaged forest is to your original mindset and perception. We all have biases of what we perceive to be the “best” forest… Just as we all have a different “favorite” type of tree… Which means we all will have our own idea of “pristine” and “vision” we want the forest to look like. I’m here to set the record straight - in most cases (not all, but most) - these forests are MANAGED landscapes, and their managed differently at different times for different goals. But usually, as I always recommend, there will be a timber harvesting routine involved. The harvests can be for different reasons: profit, wildlife habitat manipulation, accessibility, forest health improvement, or wildfire risk reduction… And many times all our a part of the equation in differing weights. So the next time you see a logging job, recognize that landowner is striving to create a truly sustainable forest to stay in trees for generations. #stewardship #youronlineforester #landandladies #womenempoweringwomen #inheritance #faithbasedbusiness #succession #environment #landmanagement #timber #environmentallyfriendly #logging

Land restoration is critical to boosting livelihoods, building climate resilience, and enhancing biodiversity. Cotton growers are increasingly adopting practices such as precision agriculture to pinpoint low-production regions in their fields. This enables them to identify underperforming areas of their land and assess whether these regions could be repurposed to enhance #biodiversity. In fact, land that is no longer efficient for cotton production is often converted into habitats for birds such as pheasant and quail, pollinators, and other species.
