Droughts and overuse are pushing water conflicts beyond the Western U.S., threatening agriculture across the Midwest and putting greater importance on water rights. At Farmland LP, we prioritize land with senior water rights, such as pre-1914 rights in California, ensuring resiliency in the face of inevitable weather and climate issues. Our founder, Craig Wichner, recently spoke on Tim Hammerich’s Future of Agriculture podcast about how water rights are undervalued despite their growing importance. A groundbreaking study from Kansas State University reveals that organic farming has a measurable impact on carbon sequestration. After examining soil treated with manure and compost for 22 years, researchers found that these organic fertilizers significantly increase the amount of carbon stored in soil—by binding carbon in soil pores and minerals. 🌱 Unlike chemical fertilizers, which can degrade soil quality over time, manure and compost support healthy microbial communities in the soil—key players in the carbon storage process. This research underscores why Farmland LP is committed to regenerative agriculture. https://lnkd.in/g3dfQNfa

🌍 Climate change is reshaping our agricultural landscape. The USDA predicts a 12-29% drop in yields by 2050, but we believe the changes will be more rapid and significant. This means we must grow the same amount of crops on less and different land. It's a critical moment to invest in sustainable farming practices. Be part of the solution and secure your investment in the future of agriculture. 🌾📈 #SustainableAgriculture #ClimateChange #InvestSmart #FarmlandInvestment

Transforming a 4,000-acre farm 55 miles east of San Francisco, Farmland LP has redefined what sustainable agriculture can achieve. When we acquired Burns Farm, it was primarily used for growing alfalfa, commodity corn, and processing tomatoes. Fast forward to today, we've diversified to twelve different crops and increased the number of farming tenants from two to seven. The result? Revenue per acre has soared from just over $300 to over $800. And we're not stopping there. Our organic blueberries alone are projected to yield a net profit of over $8,000 per acre for our investors.
