Why settle for ordinary when you can achieve extraordinary? 🎉 The second annual Hampshire Business Awards lit up Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre last November, celebrating the achievements of businesses across the county. Over 370 guests began the evening with a drinks reception in the 850sqm Discover space before heading upstairs to the 1,000sqm Inspire for a three-course dinner, entertainment, and awards in 16 categories. Reflecting on the event, the organisers, The Business Magazine - South East Group, shared: "The team at Farnborough International displayed exceptional professionalism and strong communication skills. Working with venues nationwide, we value partners who collaborate with us from the initial planning stages through to execution. Farnborough International truly understood the importance of this event and our vision, making them an invaluable partner. We couldn’t be happier with the relationship we’ve built with their team." Are you ready to bring your next big idea, event, or experience to life? Farnborough International is here to be your trusted venue partner. I’m now five weeks into my new job at the NEC Group and I’ve been loving learning all about our venues, with a particular focus on the beautiful city-centre venue The ICC Birmingham. Put very simply, my job is to promote not just our venues but also Birmingham as the ideal destination to host any kind of event. So, this is what I have learned: Quite simply, Birmingham is awesome. I knew that already as a Brummie but I think everyone else should too! It welcomes over 1 million international visitors each year and has a booming economy. What’s more, its central location and excellent transport links make it incredibly accessible by air, rail or car – in fact 90% of the UK’s population live within a four-hour drive of Birmingham! As for the ICC itself, it’s considered to be one of Europe’s premier conference venues and has flexible space to accommodate from 10 to 2,000+ delegates. Plus, the location is unbeatable with stunning canal views, vibrant bars and restaurants right next door, and get this: award-winning catering (think fresh, local, and seriously delicious - over 650 awards can't be wrong!). 80% of the food is sourced from local suppliers meaning it is not only fresh but environmentally friendly. So in short, if any of my contacts - whether you are an association, charity or corporate company – are planning any kind of event whether it’s a meeting for 10 people, a large conference, a product launch or gala dinner, you should really be considering Birmingham as your location. Please do drop me a message and I would be happy to give you more info about how we can help you to provide an experience for your delegates that they will talk about for years to come! #birmingham #iccbirmingham #events #conferencevenue #venues #corporateevents #associationevents

Interesting use of data. 1.5million and £1.7billion are huge numbers which paints a positive picture. It is only once you look deeper does the real story appear. Compared with 2019 pre-Covid visitor numbers are down by between 1-22% except Scotland. With total inbound visitors at 93% of 2019 levels. Expenditure is nominally higher across all regions than 2019, but and it is a big but, that figure hasn’t takes into account inflation which was 21% between 2019-2022 and 7% in 2023. Although not a numbers expert I would hazard a guess that if the figures were adjusted income is less than 2019 levels. Moral of this story, sometimes good stuff isn’t always that good.

Tuesdays Tips: As you prepare for your upcoming event, it's important to carefully consider several key factors during the pre-planning stage. 1) Start Early: The sooner you begin planning, the better. Venues, entertainers, and suppliers book up quickly, so it's important to start the planning process early. 2) Set Goals: Clearly define the goals and objectives you want to achieve with the event. Understanding your key performance indicators will make it much easier to track and measure your return on investment. 3) Resources: To effectively plan your firm's event, first assess your available in-house resources. Identify any additional resources you may need to secure. Additionally, consider whether your team has the appropriate expertise and time to lead the event planning efforts. 4)Promotion: Develop a comprehensive promotion plan, regardless of whether your event is internal or external. 5) Build a Budget: Developing a comprehensive budget is crucial for event success, yet many events fail due to a lack of clear understanding about the required investment. www.eventgroup.ca #events #eventplanning #yyc #eventmarketing #yycbusiness #liveevents #alberta #calgary #edmonton #yycnow #travelalberta #tourismcalgary #yycevents #calgaryevents #visitcalgary #calgarybusiness #calgaryevents
