This year has brought some truly significant changes for me, and I still feel like I'm catching my breath. I’ve experienced three major shifts.
The first is a change in the industry I work in. I used to be in the pharmaceutical industry, but now I’m in the diagnostics sector. While they might seem similar, they are actually quite different. I have a lot to say about these differences, and I plan to share more about that in the future.
The second change is my move to a new country. After spending almost my entire life in South Korea, I relocated to the United States. There were several reasons for this move, but the biggest one was my experience working for a global pharmaceutical company. Even though the Korean employees were incredibly capable, the small domestic market and strict regulations often meant that Korea was not a priority for the company. This left me feeling frustrated, and I had a strong desire to experience a larger market like the U.S.
The third change is in my role. For the past 10 years, I’ve been working in commercial roles (marketing/sales/commercial excellence), but now, in a smaller company, I’m taking on responsibilities across operations.
Usually, people advise against making more than one major change at a time, but in my case, I found myself tackling three at once. Sometimes it feels overwhelming, but I’m learning an incredible amount at a rapid pace.
I believe these experiences are too valuable to let pass by, so I’d like to start sharing my journey one step at a time.
