Probably being not as famous as the other three bridges that cross the East River to connect Manhattan to the various neighborhoods of NY, the Queensboro Bridge holds the record for being the busiest. Did you know that an average of 150,000 vehicles, 7,000 cyclists, and 2,700 pedestrians cross it everyday? #Webuild #Webuild #Webuildvalue #Webuilders #Webuildinnovation #Webuildgreen #Webuildthefuture #Weinvestinsustainability #Webuildinfrastructures

I believe the opportunity to connect Ontario Hwy 417 and Quebec Hwy 50 is an opportunity to re-vitalize King Edward, Rideau Street and the ByWard market. The 18 wheelers passing continuously through our historic downtown is a major urban design issue. This new interprovincial bridge would also bring the potential to improve commercial trucking routes from eastern Ontario and West Quebec, particularly Mirabel and north Montreal. Is it finally time? Montée Paiement and the Aviation parkway may be better suited to handle this truck traffic. What do you think?

Lets remind people of where we are on this journey. In 2022 the federal and provincial governments jointly announced an investment of more than $1 billion to help Stellantis retool its Canadian auto plants – including its facility in the City of Brampton – to make electric vehicles. Stellantis is investing another $2.4 billion to its electrification projects. At its Brampton Assembly Plant, Stellantis is in the process of installing a flexible assembly line capable of producing battery-electric and hybrid vehicles. This overhaul will diversify the automaker’s capacity to meet growing consumer demand for low-emission vehicles. The Stellantis facility is an anchor of Brampton’s automotive industry, and significantly impacts the local economy, providing approximately 3,000 manufacturing jobs. It also provides many indirect jobs across the province. It is estimated that for every one job at an automotive facility, as many as five to six indirect jobs are created. This transaction was an important step to renewing the Stellantis plant. As a result of retooling, surplus lands were identified in discussions with the City of Brampton that could be sold as complementary employment uses. We wanted to make sure the surplus lands could be optimized and yet remain compatible with the surrounding uses. We look forward to working with the new owners of the 32-acre parcel, which are ideal for complementary #automotive uses. Feel free to reach out to the Invest Brampton - Economic Development Office if you have any questions about investing in Brampton. Our team is here to help. The Atlanta Beltline is the epitome of #TrailOrientedDevelopment Once an active railroad line in the late 1800s then abandoned in the 1960s, this 22-mile linear corridor circling Atlanta has been reimagined as a thriving urban greenspace and multi-use trail oriented with revitalized old railroad building infrastructure and innovative new development as residential, commercial, office and institutional uses. The first section was built and opened in 2008, and the entire 22 mile loop is scheduled to be finished by 2030. I took this ride last week on a short visit along the Eastside Trail section, where most of the development and investment is happening along the corridor. "The Beltline" is one of the largest urban revitalization projects in the country and, to date, has attracted around $9 Billion in private oriented development with no signs of this slowing down any time soon. Even though it got a little congested with cyclists, pedestrians and other rolling modes sharing the same space, this experience exemplified many traits of what I think of #BicycleUrbanism -- the diversity of the users and modes :: fantastic trail oriented wall graffiti and sculptures :: the trail oriented development, signage and wayfinding :: the various trail side musicians, etc. The video ends in a very alluring section of the current Beltline route- the Krog Street Tunnel filled with graffiti on all sides City of Atlanta City of Atlanta Department of City Planning Atlanta Beltline #Atlanta #AtlantaBeltline #bicycleinfrastructure #velohagen #murals #peopleonbikes #railtotrail #greenway #urbantrail #placemaking #urbanism #healthycity

Still waiting to merge? The South Fulton CID (SFCID) is investing in almost half a mile of road improvements, better bridges, and new sidewalks at the SR 74/I-85 interchange. If you've taken I-85 north from Fairburn lately, you'll know: the traffic is piling up. With one of the largest southeastern logistics corridors right next door, the existing roads and sidewalks simply can't support all of South Fulton's commuters and visitors. That's why the South Fulton CID is bringing: - A partial clover leaf interchange (shown below), with loop ramps connecting drivers to I-85 North and South. - Additional lanes for SR 74 in both directions. - 5-foot sidewalks and 4-foot bicycle lanes on SR 74 in both directions. - An updated single bridge with 30-foot shoulders. Still in its final design, the project is scheduled to start construction this year!
