Transitioning to Part-Time! Experienced Emergency Hazards Analyst Seeks DOE Opportunities (December 2024) Exciting news! In December 2024, I'll be transitioning to a semi-retirement phase, seeking a part-time (approximately 20-30 hours/week or 80-120 hours/month) role to continue using my expertise in emergency management within the Department of Energy (DOE) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). For the past 25 years, I've served as an Emergency Hazards Analyst, conducting thorough evaluations of DOE site operations and hazardous material inventories at the Pantex Plant. My focus is on: Identifying potential emergencies, particularly those involving hazardous materials. Assessing the extent of danger posed by these emergencies. Developing protocols for emergency recognition to ensure timely response. Defining initial actions to protect people during incidents. Beyond individual site assessments, I've also played a leadership role within the DOE Emergency Management Issues Special Interest Group (EMI SIG). As Chair of the Subcommittee for Technical Analysis and Response Support (STARS), I've mentored and collaborated with emergency preparedness analysts across the DOE Complex. This experience has further honed my skills in: - Technical analysis of emergency hazards. - Developing best practices for hazards assessment, consequence assessment, and response. - Mentoring and fostering collaboration among emergency preparedness professionals.
