This training seems to break some of the HR policies

They hit so many subjects with the music. If you can’t laugh at anything, then I don’t want you around. I’ve observed so many things which people should’ve been terminated for without question. But HR and management refused to enforce policy and flipped the blame to front line supervisors. This looked ridiculous before I turned up the sound. Getting the message across is key.

Love love love this! Let’s normalize having a sense of humour even when talking about serious things. People will remember it better.

Grown men of course... "yea let's take this incredibly serious topic of workplace harassment that is rampant and prevalent in so many industries and make a mockery of how serious the conversation is by making it an SNL musical" and this is why the topic continues to not be taken seriously in the workplace. There are some topics that I think you can safely and professionally add comedy to to improve the learning experience... sexual harassment and workplace violence is not one of them.

Something about this though. I wasn’t sure what part made me uncomfortable but maybe it was because it felt like it was making a “mockery” of serious topics. It will definitely be remembered but does it have the impact we want it to have? Cause change? Or just lets people treat some of these topics as normal? Does it support the idea of saying “loosen up, don’t be so uptight” when someone at the receiving end is uncomfortable with a comment? The opposite of what we want to achieve maybe ? Interesting training concept.

For me "we are a family" at work is more than blurring lines and opening a door to harassment. Harassment can also happen if you pretend to be professional. My issue with calling your co-workers your family is, that it implies that you can't choose them and that you have to always keep it fun and friendly with absolute loyalty towards each other. I think it can be quite toxic for both sides and it's better to acknowledge that a job is first of all a transaction of work for money to grow a business. If you can make it fun, enjoy what you do and maybe even become friends with people at work, that's just a bonus on top of this transaction. BUT in the end we don't get paid for fun and we don't have to stay in a job, when we feel that it's not fulfilling any more. We can change jobs much easier than families 😆

Needed that on a Monday! I love seeing people have fun in their work and honestly, it makes people remember the training, I'm all for fun in the workplace especially if it gets people to learn.
