So many people that I speak to don't have a team around them to share ideas (or workload). In 2020, the AbbVie Foundation embarked on a journey with the UChicago Medicine’s Urban Health Initiative (UHI) to launch the Liaisons in Care (LinC) program to reduce health disparities in marginalized communities. Fast forward four years, today, our Corporate Responsibility & Global Philanthropy Team had the honor of welcoming the LinC Team to our HQ to celebrate our progress and discuss the challenges and opportunities for continuing to advance health equity. Since launching on Chicago’s South Side—a community grappling with some of the worst economic, health, social, and violence outcomes in the United States due to generations of structural inequality and neglect that have eroded essential social, economic, and health-promoting infrastructure—LinC’s community health workers and partnerships have assisted over 27,000 residents in navigating care and accessing vital health and social services, resulting in measurable improvements in health outcomes. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health is the most shocking and inhuman.” We need to recognize that health inequities affect us all, and together, we must advocate for a future where everyone has access to the care they need.

Did you know that in Germany alone, there are an estimated 200 million cell phones lying unused in drawers? 🧐 My club, Rotaract Club Frankfurt-International, is collecting these devices as part of a social campaign and handing them over to Europe's largest non-profit IT company, AfB social & green IT (Arbeit für Menschen mit Behinderungen/Work for People with Disabilities). 📱 AfB specializes in taking over used electronic devices, refurbishing it, and remarketing it. 48% of their employees are people with disabilities and have set a goal to increase this proportion even further. 🚀 In doing so, they are not only driving forward the inclusion of people with disabilities but also contributing to environmental protection by refurbishing technical devices and promoting the transition to a sustainable circular economy. 🍀 If you, your family, friends, or company want to participate in this initiative, contact me and we can arrange a pickup. 🗣️ IT HAS NEVER BEEN EASIER TO DO GOOD: You collect the phones - we pick them up. 😉
