It's Mental Health Awareness Month, and we're thinking about ways to address the youth mental health crisis happening in North Carolina. The Center of Excellence for Integrated Care (COE), an FHLI program, has proposed a policy to give every child the option to get a free annual Mental Health Well Visit. This would help: ➡️ Eliminate patient cost barriers to mental health care. ➡️ Reduce mental health stigma by making it part of a yearly routine. ➡️ Identify mental health issues early—before they create more significant problems. This National Child and Youth Mental Health Day, May 7th, we're focused on the critical need to address youth mental health multimorbidity, where young people face more than two or more mental health conditions, such as depression and psychosis, at the same time. Despite its prevalence, youth living with multiple mental health challenges are often excluded from research, making it difficult to understand their experiences and create effective pathways to care. That's why we're proud to support CALM: Cohort Network for Adolescents and Youth with Mental Health Multimorbidity. CALM recently developed a new resource for youth explaining multiple mental health conditions. Every May, Mental Health Awareness Month serves as a reminder of the importance of breaking stigmas and fostering support for mental health. In the U.S., it’s estimated that 1 in 5 people are living with a diagnosed mental illness. And in most communities in America, the police are often the first people called to meet a mental health crisis - but for a country struggling with some of the worst mental health outcomes in the world, is the US a reliable responder? According to Ernie & Joe: Crisis Cops,we could be. This powerful documentary, watched by over 45,000 officers, explores community mental health response while demonstrating the impact that can be made when you “start where you are, use what you have, and do what you can.” Learn More: https://lnkd.in/dc2VQb4E #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #BreakTheStigma #ErnieAndJoe

A community collaborative comprised of representatives from law enforcement, DV & SV advocacy centers, governmental institutions, health & social service agencies, & faith-based organizations.
Did you know it’s Mental Health Awareness Month? This month is a call to shore up the systems and services that address youth mental health. It’s also a reminder to all of us that we need to respond early to youth mental health challenges before a crisis occurs. 1 in 5 youth have or will experience mental illness in their lifetimes, according to the CDC. And 50% of youth mental health challenges show up by age 14. It can take 10+ years to access help and even longer for boys and male-identified youth. This is why it’s so important for our work that we reach young people early. 🌟 May is Mental Health Month! 🌟 Let's talk about an essential aspect of estate planning that often gets overlooked: Mental Health Care Directives! 🧠💡 Just as we plan for our physical health needs in advance, it's equally important to plan for our mental health care preferences. That's where Psychiatric Advance Directives come in. 💼✍️ 🔹 What are Psychiatric Advance Directives? These are legal documents that allow individuals to specify their preferences for mental health treatment in case they become unable to make decisions for themselves due to mental illness. 🔹 Why are they important? They empower individuals to have a voice in their mental health care, ensuring their preferences are respected and followed, even during times of crisis. 🔹 How can you create one? Speak with a legal professional experienced in estate planning. They can help you draft a directive tailored to your unique needs and preferences. This Mental Health Month, let's prioritize our mental well-being in every aspect of our lives, including our estate plans. 💬💙 #MentalHealthMonth #PsychiatricAdvanceDirectives #EstatePlanning #MentalHealthAwareness

We’re discussing mental health more now than we ever have before. People are becoming more open about their mental health, and we’re all learning better ways to support each other. But people may often underreport men’s mental health, with men not reaching out for the support they need. And that’s where Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month comes in, bringing attention to men’s mental health. This June, consider reaching out to a man in your life with a mental health check in. It could mean the world to someone. #MensMentalHealthMonth #MensMentalHealth #Awareness #ANSR #ANSRclinic
