Many Food Rescue Hero™ Network Partners have coordinated multi-stop rescues manually for years, allowing volunteers to pick up food from multiple locations and/or drop off food at multiple nonprofit recipients. Now, the Food Rescue Hero platform allows them to do so seamlessly in-app, allowing for more efficient food rescue and getting food into the hands of community members quicker. For millions of people in America, food shouldn't be an impossible choice. But for too many, a daily meal isn't just about picking what's on the menu—it's a choice between food and other essential needs like medicine, electricity, or childcare. It’s hard enough to ask for help, but to then be turned away because someone makes too much money for traditional government food programs, but still can't make ends meet, is unthinkable. This past Tuesday was Hunger Action Day! CEO Scott Rumpsa joined The Morning Mix on Fox 17 to share how neighbors like you can help nourish our neighbors and build a stronger, healthier communtiy. Hunger doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Families who struggle to access the food they need often face other challenges, and a setback in one area creates a ripple effect across systems: education, childcare, employment, housing, healthcare, food, finances, and transportation. Complex problems require holistic solutions - that’s why we combine healthy food access, resource navigation, financial empowerment, and street outreach to build a community where all of our neighbors have what they need to thrive, and no one faces challenges alone. For the last 14 years, Denny's has raised funds toward ending childhood hunger through the generosity of our guests, which has helped us provide $13.6 million to the nonprofit No Kid Hungry since 2011. It’s an amazing community effort and a need that we don’t take lightly – donations help remove barriers that prevent kids from getting the meals they need to succeed. But one company, alone, cannot solve this critical issue across our country; it takes collective action to drive change. That’s why I am honored to share that I have joined No Kid Hungry’s CEO Pledge to End Summer Hunger. Alongside incredible leaders across industries like Darin Harris, Danny Meyer, Barry McGowan and Charles Watson, CFE, we are joining forces to help create a future where every child has access to three nutritious meals, 365 days a year. By joining this pledge, we commit to mobilize our brands by investing dollars, raising awareness, and using our platforms to help increase the number of children receiving summer meals from 2.8 million to 30 million nationwide. Closer to the Land is one project I’ve had the privilege to help raise funds to launch and sustain over the past couple of years. Welcoming primary and secondary schools, youth organisations and young people in social care to the 220-acre Ashburnham Place estate to switch off digitally and spend time outdoors. Getting their hands dirty exploring, picking, planting, foraging, baking, pickling and composting. A key part is about building community and making new friends. And that’s done by eating together. Enjoying the soup, the bread, the pickles they’ve made. Or the fruit and vegetables they’ve picked.   It’s not overly surprising to hear how so many young people feel disconnected and isolated in such a ‘connected’ world. But it's so good to witness some of the discussions around their attitudes and ideas around food, the environment and sustainability.
