Every family should be able to access the programs that can help them thrive. But the reality is that some families face more barriers to getting the support they need. That’s why we’re so proud to partner with Generations United in their mission of supporting grandfamilies—families in which children are raised by relatives other than their parents, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, or siblings—who face increased risks of food insecurity. Learn how Generations United is working to change policies and ensure healthy food access for every family ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/eRrCTv56

This past Tuesday was Hunger Action Day! CEO Scott Rumpsa joined The Morning Mix on Fox 17 to share how neighbors like you can help nourish our neighbors and build a stronger, healthier communtiy. Hunger doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Families who struggle to access the food they need often face other challenges, and a setback in one area creates a ripple effect across systems: education, childcare, employment, housing, healthcare, food, finances, and transportation. Complex problems require holistic solutions - that’s why we combine healthy food access, resource navigation, financial empowerment, and street outreach to build a community where all of our neighbors have what they need to thrive, and no one faces challenges alone. It takes a community, working together, to nourish our neighbors! Act with Action House by volunteering, hosting a drive, or donating to support our work! This year, a record 101 youth organizations participated in the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation’s Ignite the Spirit program. Through this program, FFA, 4-H and other youth-based organizations receive $500 and 4 cases of pork loin to create their own service project to address hunger and food insecurity in their community. Organizations pick up the pork loins at Operation Christmas Meal stops throughout the month of December and then work with other hunger-fighting organizations in their area to prepare their project. Examples of projects include community meals and holiday meal boxes. Groups were spread across the whole state, with projects occurring in 47 counties.

Why participate in #FeedingTuesday on December 3rd? This time of year usually involves family, friends, and lots of delicious food. In Haiti, food is not a bountiful resource for everyone. Children come to school to learn, but an empty belly can make that difficult. Our school lunch program has been providing that much-needed nourishment, but we need your help to continue it. Plan to give on #FeedingTuesday, and help us reach the goal of $30,000 to help feed children in need. #GivingTuesday

September is Hunger Action Month® — a national campaign aimed at inspiring action and raising awareness about hunger across the United States. This Hunger Action Month, let’s stand together to eliminate the impossible choices caused by hunger, especially in Washington County. For millions of people in America, food shouldn't be an impossible choice. But for too many, a daily meal isn't just about picking what's on the menu—it's a choice between food and other essential needs like medicine, electricity, or childcare. It’s hard enough to ask for help, but to then be turned away because someone makes too much money for traditional government food programs, but still can't make ends meet, is unthinkable. This is where Food Helpers steps in, to offer aid, education, and resources for this forgotten group. Get involved to help! And if you need help, we hope we can see you at a distribution - https://lnkd.in/eDACbZpj

June is National Hunger Awareness month, with "more than 34 million people, including 9 million children, in the United States who are struggling with hunger", according to SaveTheChildren.org. At Grocery Dealz, part of our Christian driven mission, is too help those struggling with hunger or food insecurity. Even if we can help just one family stretch their grocery bill a bit further to alleviate their hunger insecurity; then it would be all worth it! https://lnkd.in/gJAVJDrb
