It may be #HispanicHeritageMonth but I prefer to think about it as #LatineLegacyMonth. It's not just about celebrating culture and bringing visibility to our community, but also addressing the reality that people face. The Latina Pay Gap is real and unfortunately it increases with more advanced levels of education. I grew up knowing Latinas who worked multiple jobs who reinvested what little they had in their community. I've known Latinas working professional jobs who haven't been paid their worth and yet still give willingly to help and support others - whether it's donations, investments, or providing unpaid labor. I've known Latinas who have had to start over later in life and who have faced stigma and barriers to workforce re-entry, yet they still made time to mentor and motivate others. Closing the pay gap is the right thing to do - that in itself should be enough reason to take action. But there's also this: Latinas already do so much with less; imagine the possibilities if we invested in Latinas equally. Yes - continue to support the small business during Hispanic Heritage Month, BUT also take action in other ways - learn about the issues or community faces and take action to make a positive impact for the Latine community in other spaces. I hope you can join us at this event. It may be titled "Latina" equal pay day, but it's a great opportunity to reflect on the legacy and impact we can all (men, women, Latino, Latina, non-Latine) have on the issue so I invite you to join us. Come learn about what you can do to eliminate the Latina Pay Gap and support the path to Intergenerational Wealth for all. This event is for anyone who wants to learn more about what a financial journey looks like and how we can move from inequity to intergenerational wealth. It's intended for a range of people - from those who haven't gotten started to those who are ready to become accredited investors - there will be something for everyone. If you're not able to attend in person, register to join us online. Finally I wanted to give a shout out to the amazing Latina leadership team that organized this event (Suleiny Altamirano Cynthia Vargas Hernández and Rosario Sethi) and fantastic financial experts who will be sharing insights and strategies (Laura Espriu, ACC, Viri Guillen, Lupe Rosales, Mariza H. Sheehan Elizabeth Trippel, PhD Hugo Granja Flores). #LatinaEqualPayDay #SeattleALPFA
Did you know Latinas earn just 52 cents for every dollar earned by white, non-Hispanic men? On October 3, 2024, join us as we raise our voices and take action to close the gap. 👉 RSVP here: https://buff.ly/3B2UEzp . ALPFA Seattle is hosting an event to shine a light on the systemic barriers Latinas face and to push for change. 💪🏽Don't miss out—join us in Seattle at the UW Foster School of Business to be part of the solution! Special thanks to MBA Joanne Layotte Thomasen co-president at Foster Diversity in Business for partnering with us for this event! #LatinaEqualPayDay2024 #LEPD2024 #EqualPayForLatinas #CloseTheWageGap

Our 2023 Melbourne Female Founder Festival panellists - Rhiannon Tracey, Vicki Stirling and Cherie Clonan shared some things they wish more people knew: Neurodiversity is actually a superpower – harness it! Forget all those outdated stereotypes, imagine for a moment, having a mind that operates in a beautifully unique way. It’s like having a secret superpower that allows you to see the world from a completely different angle. Well, guess what? That’s exactly what being neurodivergent is all about. Although Black Business Month has come to an end, the importance of highlighting and supporting Black-owned businesses should be recognized all year round. Today, we're shining a spotlight on Sistahbiz Global Network, a powerful organization dedicated to helping Black women entrepreneurs succeed. Impact Charitable knows the importance Black women play in driving business growth in the U.S., and works to increase their access to critical capital. Curious about the innovative models we used to funnel integrated capital to drive impact? Download our case study and see how we’re helping to close the capital gap for underrepresented entrepreneurs in the U.S. -https://lnkd.in/dYMKgr5S

As founders we can become obsessed with the usual metrics - growth, cash flow, click through rates. But it turns out one of the biggest honors of my career so far - inclusion in the Inc. Magazine Female Founders 250 List - is being awarded this month recognizing our work at TribeTokes giving back - something we do on the side and most don’t even know about. There were times I would cry reading the applications for our Pot Luck Program (or reading the thank you notes that would come back months later). People are really suffering and cannabis is really helping them. More here => https://lnkd.in/ekv6t-VF In 2020 we reached a point where we could donate corporate profits to a cause. I began sending 1% of sales to a charity, but felt so disconnected from it, and decided I’d rather put resources into something we had more control over, where we could make sure we’re making a difference, and make sure our hard earned resources were getting to the people that need it. Thank you Lynn Parodneck and Kymberly Byrnes for supporting the launch of this and I hope we can eventually grow it into something even bigger!
