There's been a lot of news recently about "greenwashing": the act of overstating sustainability efforts. The FCA has taken notice and is introducing new regulations to make sure this practice is curtailed. From May this year, all FCA-authorised businesses must make sure that any sustainability-related statements they make about financial products or services are "clear, fair, and not misleading, and consistent with the sustainability profile of the product or service." The Financial Conduct Authority is introducing the Sustainable Disclosure Requirements (“SDR”) to the UK financial market beginning in May 2024. The SDR aims to address greenwashing, enhance transparency, and protect retail and institutional investors against sustainability-related claims made by financial firms. Phase 1 of the SDR was the publication of the Policy Statement last November. The rest of the SDR will be released in 6 phases between May 2024 and December 2026. #SDR #Sustainability #SustainableFinance #SustainableDisclosureRequirements #Greenwashing #ESGInvestment
