GRIA (Grown in Africa), founded by Joshua Reed-Diawuoh MBA ’20, partners with companies that ethically source cashews and other foods. Cashew companies receive a “Fairtrade Premium,” which Reed-Diawuoh explains “goes to the producer cooperatives, or the farmers working the land, and they can invest that in any way they choose. They can put it back into their business, they can start new community development projects, like building schools or improving wastewater infrastructure, whatever they want.” https://bit.ly/4fVsTHW

Rural and Indigenous communities many times have employees that wear many hats. They do not have the ability to hire extra personnel to assist with grant writing, do the additional work needed to build resilience against future disasters, or have the additional matching funds that some grants require. Philanthropy organizations can help fill this crucial gap needed for these communities be prepared for disasters.
Unfortunately, this is not a new conversation, but excited to be part of an organization working to change this paradigm! Always proud of the work Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) is doing to build vibrant, healthy, and thriving rural and Indigenous communities throughout the west. #RuralMatters

The Kouga Wind Farm Community Development Trust (KWFCDT) is committed to empowering local communities through strategic, impactful investments. 🌍✨ The 70/20/10 Funding Strategy Framework is designed to ensure that every project supported leads to long-lasting, sustainable change. Here’s how it works: 🔸 70% Long-Term Interventions: These are large-scale projects that have a visible impact over 3+ years. This includes key pillars such as Education & Skills Development, Enterprise Development, and Healthcare. These projects are crucial for fostering self-reliant, resilient, and sustainable communities. 🔸 20% Short-Term Interventions: These are projects that show results within 3 months to 3 years. These initiatives focus on pillars like Infrastructure Development and Arts, Culture, & Sports Development, aiming to create rapid, but meaningful, change in our communities. 🔸 10% Immediate Interventions: These projects address urgent needs and emergencies with instant impact. Whether it's humanitarian support or disaster relief, it ensures that communities in need receive timely assistance when they need it most. This framework allows the Trust to prioritise projects based on their long-term, short-term, and immediate impact - ensuring that available resources make a difference where it matters most. Together, we are creating a brighter, more sustainable future! 🌱💪 #KWFCDT #EmpoweringCommunities #SustainableDevelopment #CommunityImpact #FundingStrategy #SocialImpact #LongTermGrowth #ImmediateSupport #CommunityDevelopment #LocalEmpowerment

🌍 Indigenous peoples and local communities manage 40% of the world’s protected areas (according to The World Bank), yet they are among the most vulnerable to the climate crisis and environmental degradation. Now, more than ever, community-led conservation initiatives are critical to protecting biodiversity. That's why we are proud to introduce An Equal Share, a new venture by Delphine Malleret King (Ph.D) (Advisor to The Long Run) and Stevie Mann (Friend of The Long Run). This initiative combines fine art photography with community empowerment, with 50% of net sales donated to projects that directly benefit local communities. Their first collaboration is with Ol Lentille Conservancy in Kenya, an initiative that, by January 2024, had funded over 2,000 school meals and covered education costs for 49 children from vulnerable households. An Equal Share is now contributing to these efforts, supporting both people and nature through the power of art. Support the cause and explore the collection via the link down in the comment below 👇 #InIt4TheLongRun #The4Cs
