The Five-Fold Commitment not only aligns with but also expands upon the aims of the Triple and Quadruple frameworks that have guided healthcare improvement over the last decade. The Triple Aim, developed by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), focused on three key objectives: 1. Enhancing patient experience. 2. Improving population health. 3. Reducing per capita costs of healthcare. The Quadruple Aim added a crucial fourth objective: 4. Improving the work life of healthcare providers. Excelsior Wellness takes these foundational goals a step further with our Five-Fold Commitment: 1. When it comes to improving public health outcomes, planning policy tends to focus on creating urban environments that are walkable, or that ensure there is sufficient public open space and community facilities to facilitate active recreation. However, there are more ways planning policy can be used to improve health outcomes that can either be ‘blanket-style’ – approaches that seek indiscriminate improvements to health outcomes for all or most people – or targeted approaches which recognise vulnerable groups and seek to influence the environment around them to encourage more healthy behaviours. In this briefing Marko Rubcic explores some unique urban planning initiatives from around the world that are aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles, and the mechanisms that support the development of these policies. We're thrilled that NL Active has been successful in getting North Lincolnshire to play a significant role in how the health sector across England supports adults to develop a more active lifestyle. “Currently, one in four of us is living with multiple long-term health conditions. That statistic is set to rise to two thirds of people aged over 65 by 2035. We know that our health care systems are under pressure, yet physical activity could help prevent up to 40% of these conditions. Furthermore, a more active lifestyle could help to manage more than 20 of the most common physical and mental health conditions.” From right across the physical activity and health sectors, these 39 organisations will join one of five communities of practice to support the co-design element of the project. #NLActive #NLgetmoving North Lincolnshire Council Active Humber
