Working with partners to make an active lifestyle the norm for everyone
About us
Our core purpose is to create the conditions for an active nation. There are 43 Active Partnerships across England who work collaboratively with local partners to create the conditions for an active nation using the power of sport and physical activity to transform lives. Active Partnerships are strategic organisations that recognise activity levels are affected by a complex system of influences and no single organisation or programme create sustainable change at scale. So by adopting a collaborative whole system approach, Active Partnerships seek to make active lifestyles the social norm for everyone and address the worrying levels of inactivity in society. The Active Partnerships national team leads, represents and supports the nationwide network of Active Partnerships and supports them to collaborate, sustain, add value and deliver impact. We are a charitable company and have a federated structure. You can find details of your local Active Partnership at www.ActivePartnerships.org

This week marks the fourth anniversary of #UnitingTheMovement Hear from Tim Hollingsworth OBE and Lisa Dodd-Mayne from Sport England, plus our CEO, Andy Taylor, about the vital role that #ActivePartnerships play in delivering this strategy in communities across England. Each of our Active Partnerships understands local people, local barriers, and local opportunities and has the collaborative spirit to help tackle inequalities and create the conditions for every single person to be active.

Over four years of Uniting the Movement, we’ve focused resources and investment into place-based working. Working closely with places of greatest need has been a big part of our work over the last year. We’re continuing to expand our reach into local communities across England to help more people to be physically active by breaking down the barriers that get in the way. 10 years of #ThisGirlCan 🥳 supporting and empowering women and girls to be active in a way that suits them ⬇️
We're 10! 🥳 Since launching "that" ad back in 2015, we've always celebrated exercise, sweat and cellulite! The insight led #ThisGirlCan campaign has been a rallying cry to women and girls to get active in THEIR own way and has supported women to face barriers such as periods, menopause, motherhood and more - replacing fear with 'don't give a damn'. The campaign has seen the creation of clubs and organisations getting involved and supporting over 3 million women to get active! But we're not done yet. We still have to close the activity and enjoyment gap, and we're not leaving any woman behind. Thank you to our wonderful community of women, instructors, clubs, partners and the National Lottery Promotions Unit - we couldn't have done it without you.
