Happy Ada Lovelace day! Celebrating women in Science Technology Engineering and Maths (STEM) Industries. Ada Lovelace an English Mathematician in the 1800’s is recognised as the world’s first computer programmer, developing the first ever algorithm for Charles Babbages Analytical Engine. Her work was widely disputed in her time, mostly due to the fact she was a woman. On this day, we celebrate women in STEM industries and recognise the huge contributions and achievements, many of which will have been over looked in the past. With the hope of encouraging more young women and girls to pursue careers in these fields, without the fear of discrimination. Whilst progress has been made, there is still much to be done to achieve an equal and diverse workforce. As part of the tech industry, we are constantly challenging ourselves, asking: what more can we do? How can we do better? With the aim of making positive, active changes to build an inclusive and diverse company. #AdaLovelaceDay #WomenInSTEM #DiversityInTech #EqualityInSTEM #WomenInTech #GirlsInTech

According to Women in Tech UK there is a noticeable gap between girls and boys that study #STEM subjects beyond GCSE (35% of girls and 80% of boys). At university, there are only 25% of graduates in STEM subjects who are women and 52% are males. The main reason as to why there is such a gap between the two is down to a pipeline issue. Fewer girls are picking STEM subjects at school due to it being seen as a male-dominated subject. RTE asked a couple of women why there are not more women in STEM and they provided interesting answers. https://lnkd.in/e3UdjK_v

February 11 marks the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This year, in addition to recognizing the remarkable contributions of women and girls in STEM, we want to reflect on the reason behind this annual observance: Promoting equal access and participation for women and girls in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. As a latina-owned tech firm looking to foster equity in education, we consider it a priority and commitment to promote actions to include women and girls in male-dominated areas. Diversity improves environments, and promoting it means broadening the perspective, encouraging innovation, and pushing for a fairer society. Including women and girls in STEM will add value and open possibilities to their lives, careers, and futures. Let’s continue closing gaps and creating opportunities for those who most need it! #wearecrocus #WomenInSTEM #GirlsInScience #IDWGS #STEMEquity #DiversityInScience #DataforEquity #InternationalDayofWomenandGirlsinScience
