New data from PeopleForBikes finds that England is lagging behind Europe for how cycling-friendly its towns and cities are. England received an average city score of 59 out of 100, compared with an average European city score of 71 when England is excluded. “The uptake of cycling in cities is directly connected to government priorities. When government leaders invest in making cycling more accessible and appealing, more people choose cycling for everyday transportation,” PeopleForBikes President and CEO Jenn Dice told Zag Daily. “If more cities in England make similar long-term commitments to invest in cycling, they will gradually catch up to their European peers.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/e7ttCK9p

For the third year, PeopleForBikes commissioned a nationwide trend study on bicycling participation from the Physical Activity Council. The reports span five cycling categories: unpaved (mountain), paved (road), BMX, stationary (group), and stationary (individual). These reports represent our industry’s best estimate for participation in specific cycling activities during 2023 and provide valuable insights to help understand overall trends in ridership and analyze audience segments. More info: https://lnkd.in/eaPAEMwx 🚴♀️ Since its launch in 2018, Cycling Industries Europe has been showcasing the cycling ecosystem’s contribution to the economy and made the case for additional EU support towards the European cycling industry. Today in 2024, the adoption of the #EUDeclarationonCycling and the launch of the #MobilityTransitionPathway set a long-term policy agenda for Europe to deliver more support for the growth of ridership and the industry. At the same time, policy support is only received if it is applied for by its potential recipients. This can often be challenging for #SMEs that focus on running their business rather than searching for policy support and filling in paperwork. This is where so-called #IndustrialCusters enter the equation as local structures that provide support to SMEs. They are key policy support ‘enablers’ insofar as they keep the SMEs they work informed about local, national and European funding opportunities, how to apply for them and where to find partners to build consortia. In addition, clusters stimulate local industry collaboration and competitiveness by – among other things - facilitating networking, linking up with academia, supporting re-skilling, providing IP support and testing facilities for new products. #CyclingIndustriesEurope #IndustrialClusters #BicycleIndustry #Eurobikeshow

I've joined the Dopracenabicykli competition for the first time! While I might not cover the longest distances, you can definitely count on me for the number of rides. This competition is fantastic for promoting city biking, and our department's cycling enthusiasm is high even outside of the competition months. Nevertheless, If you're curious about the impact of entry on the bike-sharing industry, check out our paper published this year for some insights https://lnkd.in/eKYd8pDW

Helping businesses understand their markets and clients, to develop more desirable products, brand and services.
𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭… This summer is packed with sports, so we wanted to highlight our recent work with a major sporting organisation. First on the list is..... British Cycling 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐟 Create new engagement behaviours across the range of segments in the cycling market. 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 By identifying and quantifying the target segments, we gained an understanding of the engagement triggers for cycling. 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲 Our work produced a segment-identifying algorithm and a clear action plan for effecting the desired behaviour change from passivity to active engagement. The result being a significant uplift in British Cycling membership. Contact us at 7th Sense Research UK Ltd. to find out how we can identify those areas needing a fresh pair of eyes! #MRX #MarketResearch

Cities and towns have invested heavily in #cycling infrastructure over the years, from new cycling bridges along busy commuter routes to new cycling paths in quiet residential streets. 🚴 Yet, #policymakers don’t always know how local cyclists perceive these changes. Do they feel safer? Are cycling routes comfortable? Are there bottlenecks in the cycling network? To answer rather subjective questions like these, cities and towns can use #PING. ✅ This user-friendly tool, developed by Bike Citizens and Mobiel 21, transforms cyclists into citizen scientists who collect #data about their cycling journeys and the bottlenecks they encounter along the way. ✅Local policymakers can then use this data to improve cycling conditions in their city or town, in a concrete and catered way. A perfect alternative to consultancy firms or time-consuming participation processes. Would you like to discover how PING helps finetune your cycling policy? 💡 Join our #webinar on 25 January 2024, where we will use real-life data collected by cyclists in the Belgian city of Stad Leuven to demonstrate the many benefits of this innovative tool.
