Although I could not attend the Singapore Airshow 2024 in person, I came across many posts about sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), highlighting its pivotal role in steering aviation towards a greener future. This article serves as a timely reminder that improving operations is as important as carbon offset programs and broader sustainability initiatives within the aviation industry. As more consumers increasingly prioritize environmental impact and sustainability, memories of airlines offering carbon offset charges prompt reflection on past skepticism. However, amidst escalating fuel and oil prices due to geopolitical tensions, the accelerated adoption of SAF emerges as a promising opportunity. With emerging technologies like hydrogen and battery electric planes on the horizon, hopefully, a future where flying is not only efficient but also environmentally responsible will arrive sooner than later.

Topic of sustainable aviation fuel is heating up in Singapore Airshow this week. My colleagues Sal Arora and Daniel Riefer talked with leaders of industry Daniel Ng from Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, Grace Cheung from Cathay Pacific, Marie-Agnès Vève from Airbus, Jonathan Yeo from FlyORO and Philip Siu from EcoCeres, Inc. about the way forward. Maybe it's time to look deeper what would SAF transition mean for the SEA region? https://lnkd.in/gvCSbz28

🌏 PATH TO NET ZERO FOR VIETNAM'S AVIATION INDUSTRY 🌟 The Vietnamese aviation sector is committed to an environmentally sustainable future, targeting Net Zero emissions by 2050. Key milestones include: ✨ By 2035, at least 10% of sustainable fuels will be used for short-haul flights, and all passenger and ground vehicles at new airports will operate on electricity and green energy. ✨ By 2040, all airport vehicles, with the exception of specialized ones, will transition to electric and green energy. ✨ By 2050, the industry aims for 100% sustainable aviation fuels and green energy. Vietnam Airlines is dedicated to advancing these goals, actively contributing to the global efforts in environmental sustainability. #VietnamAirlines #4StarAirline #4Stars4You

Aviation accounts for 12% of all transportation CO2 emissions, or about 1 billion tonnes of CO2, and we are flying more and more than ever before. Pure sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) has the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 94% when compared with conventional jet fuel. FlyORO is a Singapore-based climate tech startup that provides not only a SAF blending service, but supply chain integrations as well. With an elite team and a serious commitment to deliver an astounding product, the company spent 3 years on R&D before presenting their proof-of-concept, and 3 more years before launching their AlphaLite technology. It’s something very unique: a modular, on-demand blending system that gives consumers the ability to customize the blend percentage to align with their own personal ESG targets! FlyORO has partnerships with key aviation players like Jet Aviation and International Air Transport Association (IATA) to ensure they can deliver the best change to the aviation industry and have us flying a greener future! (They’re gonna be in the Singapore Airshow on 20-23 Feb 2024. Catch these awesome guys! For us to battle global warming as a generation and other effects on climate change, decarbonisation should be the goal of all future organisations. The aviation industry has committed to become net carbon neutral by 2050. Any thoughts on other decarbonisation practices across sectors?

The A340, once a pioneer of long-haul travel, now faces a precarious future as #airlines shift towards more fuel-efficient twin-engine jets. Despite its record-breaking feats and initial promise, the A340's four engines have become a liability in an era of rising fuel costs and evolving safety standards favoring twinjets. With just 64 A340s still flying globally, and no airlines operating the A340-500 variant, the decline seems inevitable. Even Singapore Airlines, known for its groundbreaking Newark to Singapore route, abandoned the -500 due to financial constraints. As newer models like the A350 and 787 boast better efficiency and safety ratings, the A340's fate appears sealed. While the A380 enjoys a resurgence, its older sibling faces extinction, symbolizing the relentless march of progress in the aviation industry. https://lnkd.in/dMJ8Zh8u #tourism #Tourisminsights #pakistan #tourismindustry #AtharJ #ecotourism #sustainabletourism #sustainability #sustainabledevelopment #tourismmarketing #60seconds
