Advancing healthcare, green technology, and disease understanding: Prestigious Sapere Aude grants for iNANO researchers Congratulations to three of our researchers, Assistant Professors Espen Drath Bøjesen, Thibault Viennet, and Michael Westberg Sørensen, who have been awarded the prestigious Sapere Aude grants from the Independent Research Fund Denmark. 🌟 Their projects span developing new methods for polyoxometalate structures, investigating the regulation of FoxO3 transcription factors, and creating chemoswitchable binders for studying biochemical signals. These innovative projects promise to advance healthcare, green technology, and disease understanding. Proposals are welcomed in a range of areas, including: ➡ talent and professional development, including the effectiveness of interventions in training and skills, talent retention, stimulating entrepreneurship, or employer assessment methods in research contexts. ➡ allocation of research funding, including the impacts of different methods of peer review and different modes of funding (for example, fellowships, research grants) on the distribution of research funds and scientific and career outcomes. ➡ understanding impact, including improving the nuance with which we can define and measure the impact of research projects and programmes. ➡ understanding the impacts of AI on the research and innovation ecosystem, including the funding and delivery of R&D. ⏰ The deadline for applications is 16 July 2024. First big thing out of the gate for the Metascience Unit! Are you interested in the impacts of AI on R&D? How we define and measure the impact of science? Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, UK Research and Innovation and Open Philanthropy are jointly investing up to £5m in metascience research to understand what works for the R&D system and how we can improve it. VII Brazilian Meeting on Research Integrity, Science and Publication Ethics (VII BRISPE) - very concerning data is emerging about research integrity: After screening some 5000 papers, there are estimates up to 34% of neuroscience papers published in 2020 were likely made up or plagiarized; in medicine, the figure was 24%.
