Today is R U OK? Day, but here at Foodbank, #RUOKDay is our day to day. We like to make sure our team, our volunteers, and every person that's part of our community are all OK – every single day.

What a great day in our Yarraville warehouse, showing our friends at Repurpose It around! In their latest episode of “Living with Purpose”, we showed Jamie Durie all the moving parts of our operations, exploring the many ways our Foodbank team sources surplus produce from farmers, growers and retailers – an absolute necessity to continue reaching the 65,000 Victorians we feed every single day.  

Thanks to our friends at Allianz Partners Australia, who are helping us provide fresh fruit, vegetables and pantry staples to international students doing it tough. Our goal is to help more than 3,300 students through a series of on-campus pop-up markets across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. Maintaining a healthy diet can be a struggle on a student budget, that’s why we’re working together to help international students access the nutritious foods they need to thrive. 

With long-term partners like Port of Melbourne onboard, we can help change a lot of lives.  With their support over the last 6+ years, we have been able to provide more than 2 million meals to struggling Victorians. Now that’s a lot of meals! Thanks Port of Melbourne, for helping make a difference in our community.

You know those friends that you can always count on? Well we are lucky to have quite a few of them!  When we put the call out that we were struggling to keep up with demand for food, and needed to run a food drive, our partners put their hands up to help out in numerous ways. This is a special shout out to the always generous, kind and amazing team from DECJUBA Foundation and @TANK Foundation, who always have our backs! Thank you for everything you do for us and for making a difference in our world.

Healthy food is always our focus, which is why we’re asking our community to donate eight key items to our Emergency Food Drive. Tuna, rice, cereal, pasta, pasta sauce, canned veg, canned fruit, and UHT milk. Food that belongs in every kitchen pantry. We’re not able to distribute any food that hasn’t been commercially manufactured (like homemade jam or passata), items collected from a local garden, or any chilled or frozen products.
