🍽️ Better Food Today. Better World Tomorrow. 🌍 Mars Food & Nutrition partnered with Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry initiative to help tackle food insecurity across the U.S. by donating over 940,000 meals of Ben’s Original products. The partnership kicked off with a donation of more than 90,000 ready-to-heat rice pouches to the Greater Chicago Food Depository, Chicago’s largest food bank. These meals will support local families during the critical summer months when access to school meals is limited—a time when 1 in 5 children in the U.S. faces hunger. 💬 “We are proud to support our local community and provide food to those who need it most,” said Kristen Campos, VP of Corporate Affairs, Mars Food & Nutrition North America. Despite hundreds of millions of meals being distributed in Indiana, of families needing food assistance, 90% remain food insecure even after receiving food from government programs and the charitable hunger relief system. The quality of nutrition available also remains a major issue. This is why systemic change is crucial. While charity helps, it’s just not enough to address the true scale of the problem. Our new documentary, Food, Insecure, goes deeper into food insecurity, the cliff effect, and the real changes needed in Indiana for things to get better. For many Indigenous families living on reserves, accessing fresh groceries means driving an average of 45 minutes to the nearest store, only to face limited options when they get there. This creates a barrier to accessing healthy, nutritious food. Fresh Routes is working to close this gap. With our Mobile Grocery Stores, we bring food right to the reserves, offering fresh, affordable food where it’s needed most. But to keep serving these communities and expand our reach, we urgently need a walk-in cooler. The cooler will allow us to store and transport more food safely and ensure that families on reserves don’t have to worry about the next time they can access fresh produce. With your help, we can keep this vital service going and break down barriers to food access. Please donate today to help us reach our $15,000 goal. Together, we can make a lasting impact! https://bit.ly/4e7PNeP #SupportIndigenousCommunities #BreakDownBarriers #FoodAccessForAll #FundraisingForImpact #DonateNow #FreshRoutes

Reducing food waste, the forte of Second Harvest and Helping Hands (Ontario), is necessary. Thank you. Working together to increase local food production is an antidote to the food insecurity made worse by a weaker economy, lower dollar value, and more unemployment. Making the goal self-sufficiency in local food production will help by contributing the local value chain in multiple ways. Including helping people feel a greater sense of belonging. Equity is a function of opportunity. Those who want to grow food need access to land -- the opportunity to farm.
The Regina Food Bank rescues thousands of lbs of food every week 🥦🍎 — nourishing lives, reducing food waste and fostering hope in the community. As a charitable, community-based organization, the Regina Food Bank leads the fight against food insecurity through nutritious food distribution, education and support programs. Together, we’re not just rescuing food, we’re building a more sustainable future. 💚

Our tagline of “Fresh, Local Food For All” is more than just words: it’s the philosophy we embrace every day. We firmly believe that everyone who lives in North Carolina should have access to the healthy, nutritious, beautiful food that’s grown here. This year, we will contribute 850,000 pounds of local food to the emergency food system – that’s the equivalent of 700,000 meals! Just this week, we were able to deliver 28,640 pounds of nutrient-rich local produce to partner organizations across the Triangle, thanks to the support of our community! In partnership with multiple direct-service agencies, 716 boxes of North Carolina-grown produce and proteins are on their way to our neighbors experiencing food insecurity. We hope you’ll consider helping us grow our hunger relief work in 2024. Today, my kids took part in a Harvest Festival at their school, bringing a bag of food to support our local food bank. This tradition just reminds us the reality that many families in our community rely on these donations to make it through the week. It’s heartbreaking to know how many people, including kids, are struggling to get food on their plate, yet 1/3 of all food doesn’t make it to the plate and is wasted. Efforts by organisations like FareShare UK and local food banks are crucial, but we need broader changes to reduce waste and improve food access. 1 in 11 people globally goes to bed hungry every night 2.8billion people can't afford a healthy, nutritious diet - that’s 35% of the global population In June 2024: 14% of UK households were living in food insecurity, including 3M kids 2.5M adults reported not eating for a whole day because they couldn’t afford or get access to food #fighthunger #reducefoodwaste #supportlocalcommunities #gratefulforfood
