Obesity Medicine Specialist | Primary Care Advocate | Promoter of Health Equity | Health Technology Enthusiast |
Clinical culture matters and can make all the difference in building a successful practice. I am amazed every day at how willing our clinicians and staff are to step up and advocate for their colleagues and patients. An excellent clinical culture doesn’t just happen however. It requires a practice mindset that appreciates and respects clinicians, dietitians, and care team members. At Form Health, we prioritize clinician: 1. Experience: Being a Form clincian means a focus on doing clincial, not admin work. All Form clinicians can use AI medical scribing tool #Nabla to dramatically reduce charting during and after visits. Patient Care Coordinators help address prior authorizations and messaging while Medical Assistants will pre-chart a patient’s visit note to make sure visits are about care delivery, not data entry. 2. Flexibility: Life doesn’t fit perfectly into a 9-5 workday and because of that we offer an incredible level of schedule flexibility to help our clinicians balance their work-life arrangements. 3. Autonomy: We trust our obesity experts to practice evidence-based care with an approach of offering accessible, high quality care to as many people as possible. The “Form way of obesity practice” is using national guidelines to personalize care to the individual. 4. Feedback: At Form we recognize that things can always be improved and are constantly seeking feedback AND implementing improvements. Our team members have significant influence on what we do and how we do it. Are you looking to practice obesity medicine in an amazing clinical culture? Please take a look on our website for employed and 1099 roles (https://lnkd.in/ga52NupN) or feel free to reach out to me directly. #obesity #obesityjobs #formhealth #npjobs #pajobs #physicianjobs #docjobs #culturematters #publichealth #prevention #aiscribe #clinicalexperience #burnout

No longer can People working in Pathology go forward with the directions they are given from their employers that make no logical sense, put workers in unsafe environments and under unreasonable workloads, result in lower standards of care for our patients and a lower standard of service for the referring doctors. It’s time for the industry and workers to take back the sector and make it what it should be… we know what is right and ethical and need to unite our voices under The PCA so the toxicity of isolated workplaces no longer silence the caring workers in the Pathology Sector. The growing demand for obesity medicine specialists, across both traditional (e.g., startups like knownwell, brick and mortar #weight loss centers of hospital systems feeding #bariatric programs, etc.) and #telehealth platforms (multiple 'drug dispensaries'), signals a pivotal moment for #independent practitioners. Currently around 1/3rd of internal medicine and family medicine providers are in single specialty setting. Overall, about half of US #physicians uphold their independent status. This is an opportune time not just to resist the trend of employment for the sake of independence, but to #innovate and thrive by developing new models of care that enhance patient outcomes, maintain physician control, and improve financial sustainability. As we embrace the future of obesity care, let us remember that without strategic diversification in revenue models, even this specialty risks becoming as constrained as primary care. We should continue to ask if we want to become hotel employed or run our Airbnb. #obesity #obesitycare #weightmanagement #healthyweight #independentphysicians #weightlosscenters #economicsofobesity #physicians #financialsustainability #revenue #survivalinmedicine #healthcare Dana Corriel, MD

Yes, yes and YES. A big yes. We are seeing so much change around the horizon. Independence is so underrated. Autonomy is so needed. Yes, that’s what @somedocs fights for. Autonomy. Of relevance, we are running an obesity medicine conference in September, and are now seating speakers. We have two co-chairs, Franchell Hamilton, MD, FASMBS, FACS and Sue Benson-Davies, PhD, DCN, MPH. https://lnkd.in/eijCcPZx #obesity #obesitymedicine #autonomy #healthcare #doctors #somedocs

Medicine is complicated. with more ambiguity and nuance than commonly appreciated, and the medical vocabulary can be unfamiliar and confusing. I have started this Substack to provide useful and actionable information and insights about women's health, drawing on four decades of practical experience and observations. Information provided does not constitute and should not be relied on for professional medical advice.

I can’t count how many times I’ve recommended a patients get a second opinion. I also strongly feel every patient needs a patient advocate. Many (most?) of the people in this space are interested in metabolic health. However a huge advantage of hiring our expertise is the above: patient advocacy and a second opinion (with a very different perspective). We should not forget these important roles we play.
