There is a reason you can’t readily access outpatient pathology services in Australia. Phlebotomists earn roughly $28 a hour and all recent negotiations with the government funded ASX owned outpatient patients providers refuse to increase wages to value the work they have done in the last four years, especially through COVID. It means not having enough support from supervisors or other workers, or not having the resources you need to do your job well.  For example, if the tools you need for a task aren’t available or working, or being left on your own to do a two person job. If poor support is a risk in your workplace, you can raise it with your supervisor, at tool box talks or with your health and safety representative, just like you would physical risks. HWU now under investigation again! It’s time to concentrate on your wages and conditions something PCA has been laser focused on since day one. The Trade Unions has done damage to Pathology workers by misrepresenting their rights to belong to the PCA. Our tactic of just getting on with business and letting our work speak for itself has been the response to the playground bullying. Bullies never win. We hope that at the end of all of this drama, Pathology Workers will trust in the uniting of workers process again.
