Roadmap to Hydrogen Integration by Ansaldo Energia their plan for achieving full hydrogen combustion in their GT36 turbine by 2035 • 2026-2027: Ansaldo Energia aims to achieve a full-scale demonstration of 100% hydrogen combustion under engine operational pressures and temperatures on a single full-scale combustor. This will validate the technology’s operability, reliability, and flexibility with pure hydrogen. • 2030: They will focus on integrating the combustor validation and feedback into the gas turbine. The company expects to be able to offer a 100% hydrogen-ready GT36 machine with minimal derating by this time. • 2035: The final goal is to launch a fully optimized GT36 engine with no derating in 2035. This engine is expected to exceed current performance metrics and provide a robust, reliable, and completely carbon-free power solution. Ansaldo Energia believes that this roadmap is achievable due to rigorous research and development projects like FLEX4H2. They are committed to innovation, operational excellence, and environmental stewardship.

Siemens Mobility and Tyczka Hydrogen cooperate in the hydrogen railway sector to provide end-to-end solutions for fuel cell trains. Both companies and also Smart Train Lease, a subsidiary of Siemens Mobility, have signed a letter of intent to work together providing complete and aligned solutions across the full supply chain including hydrogen production, storage, distribution and refuelling as well as delivery and maintenance of fuel cell trains. GKN Hydrogen Service Team's Journey. Recently, our service team, as they often do, undertook another mission: this time it didn’t bring them to the far outback of Australia (100km outside Sidney), nor to the vast desert of Morave (Phelan), but they were asked to travel to the peak of a mountain, where the highest located GKN Hydrogen P2P (power-to-hydrogen-to-power) Storage can be found.  The 100% off grid hydrogen storage system delivers heat and electrical power to the alpine shelter Müllerhütte (3145 metres above sea level). The mission was about routine, and first live winter modus checks of the #P2P Energy Storage System❄️🏔️. Microgrid Berlin The electrification of the energy supply of our plants Freudenberg Sealing Technologies is key to reach our #sustainability goal: carbon neutrality by 2045. To achieve this, we are following new paths. Like in our facility in #Berlin, #Germany, where we launched Freudenberg’s first #microgrid– a battery system that works like a virtual power plant. In the process, we help to stabilize the public grid, clearing the way for renewable energy, and reducing the cost of electricity with the aid of artificial intelligence. The system has a capacity of 556 kilowatt hours and an output of 704 kilowatts.  Microgrids help to temporarily offset fluctuations in the grid and stabilize utility frequency. Their battery systems make power available in line with the demand. This technology has two major benefits: We use the stored #electricity to smooth out load curves and reduce peak loads. Lower peaks load to lower grid fees we have to pay. And with the #battery backup system, we help our energy provider to coordinate the interplay of internal load management, grid stability and arbitrage. In the future, the system could supply the plant with power on a temporary basis. This is known as a “standalone microgrid.” Power will be safely available in the event of a #blackout, at least until all the machines and processes could be properly shut down or until the emergency power generators could kick in. The microgrid will then be combined with a #photovoltaic system that produces electricity on its own and charges the microgrid. Have you ever wondered why hydrogen is written on the periodic table as 'H', but in reality, it commonly exists as 'H₂'? We could go for one of them on the Swedish West Coast! Almost 850 MW at a thermal efficiency of 64.18 percent is a world-class achievement. Even plants of this size can be designed for two-shift operation and complement nuclear plants to maximize flexibility and enable more non-dispatchable renewables.
