Thank you to Ved Sen, head of innovation at Tata Consultancy Services, for giving your time today to share your career pathway with your colleagues and their children from the TCS good growth network around the UK. Your kindness will have helped our young audience contemplate things that will be weighing on their mind, like what they might do after they finish their education and enter the world of work. These conversations facilitate career conversations between parents and children over the summer. They provide an opportunity within the TCS parent populations to provoke essential conversations that can sometimes be difficult to start. However difficult they may be to start, they recognise the vital role of parents in career conversations, and they pave the way for the next generation to be confident that they will find their way. 🔢 We loved how you shared your unusual career pathway, from studying a Bsc at Presidency University, Kolkata and then Business Management at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad to your first jobs in sales, advertising, and then as a correspondent at Business Today Magazine. He then 'fell into' the internet in the mid-90s and went from Product Manager at @Planetasia to VP at a London-based Interactive TV startup that exited, and subsequently from building out the mobile solutions practice at Cognizant, to writing a book (Doing Digital) and finally to now where he heads innovation with TCS in London, solving interesting problems for clients across industries. F4S is proud to be a charity partner of Tata Consultancy Services: working with corporate partners to arrange conversations like this for children in our community takes only a couple of minutes for you via the F4S website - and it is as simple as ordering a pizza from Domino Pizza. If you want to start a conversation with a young person in your family or community about these or similar career roles, why not arrange a (free) call right now for sometime next week? —> click here! https://lnkd.in/e83ehhXz

Exactly a year ago I resigned from my last job without having any offer at hand. Work was exciting, I was managing marketing for a FinOps offering. Office was close by, I had a good team so why did I quit. Expectation - In mid-size organizations, founders tend to see employees as floating resources. You are given work basis need, during Diwali and New Year you are looking at clients gifts dispersal. Next moment you are engaged with analyst submission and marketing events. As you juggle between various asks, you get questioned for issues which you don't own, like paper quality of a marketing leaflet. They don't see employees as heading a function, they see them as floating resources, fulfilling the immediate need. This gets demeaning for people who have headed strategic functions of much larger RoI in the past. Culture - In that organization, being cool got prioritised over being respectful. Something which came as a shock after coming from corporates like Wipro and HCL. When founders themselves are not cognizant of the language they use, they set a wrong example which gets embedded in the company's DNA. So their definition of cool was using swear words and hosting booze parties. Forcing employees to have booze was their way of connecting with the team. Culture was the main reason that made me quit. It was disheartening to leave good work, but what I learnt is how much company culture matters. It is extremely important to work for a company which has a culture match with your values As luck would have it, I had few offers and the reason I chose Wipro was it's value and culture. More on interesting work, culture and my learning in Wipro in coming posts.

Humble Request Please Don't Ignore Hello everyone, I lost my job due to a lack of projects. Since then, I've tried hard to find another job but eventually had to take up small tasks while enhancing my skills. Unfortunately, my situation has worsened as my father also lost his job. struggling to make ends meet, and feeling like a failure because I'm unable to provide for my parents. I don't seek a job for luxury; I need it to survive in this tough situation. It's incredibly difficult to endure these days without a job and any support. I am reaching out in the hope that this post might catch the eye of IT recruiters. I desperately need some help. Despite applying to over , I've received no callbacks. This has become my daily routine-searching for jobs that match my skills, evaluating them, and applying. However, there are days when feelings of despondency and inadequacy take over, making the situation feel even more desperate. I'm not writing this post for sympathy, but simply to express my feelings on this platform. I never imagined I would find myself in this position, but here I am, navigating the harsh reality of unemployment. please contact me_9234807833 .. Streaming Media Expert: Industry Analyst, Writer and Consultant. Chairman of the NAB Show Streaming Summit (dan@danrayburn.com)
Thanks to the Tata Consultancy Services Media & Entertainment Business Unit for hosting me in NYC this week. It was great to hear about some of the latest implementations they enable across video cloud workflows, how they see customers using data and analytics for business decision-making, and what they hear from CTOs around AI trends for entertainment. The size of their revenue and free cash flow from their business is incredible, and they don’t get enough coverage for their work. It was amazing to hear about their efforts in hiring those from the military with their Vets to Tech and Salute programs, which provide a lot of training on tech and business to help set military members up for success. Tata’s overall corporate social responsibility programs are astounding, where they work with NGOs and non-profits to provide infrastructure support, education and training, scholarships, and support for local economies. The number of schoolchildren they impact yearly is in the tens of thousands. Their mantra of "giving back to society many times over” is one many other companies could learn from. The company has built a very impressive culture where they put people first, and I can see why so many employees find it such a great place to work. #please don't ignore 😣 humble request 🙏🏻 Today marks my 1.5 Year of unemployment. Close to 1000+ applications, not a single call back, it's the first time in nearly 5 years I find myself without work. It's in my daily routine to start my day by looking for jobs that meet my skills, evaluate and apply however there are days where feelings of despondency kicks in, it's sort of a feeling of inadequacy and desperation. It's a tough pill to swollow not being able to provide for a family, being dependent on a spouse for support(my wife is amazing and has my back till the wheels fall off) but the feeling of knowing I can do something but not even getting a call back let alone a rejection email really does make even the most positive person doubt themselves. I'm not writing this post for any sort of sympathy, merely stating my feelings in words on a platform. I would never have pictured myself in this position, but here I am, trying to navigate the world of the jobless, its ruthless out here. If you are reading this and you find yourself in the same position, keep faith, this is the path you were destined to be on and something great is coming your way. Everything in your life is written, this is part of your journey. It took me months to accept this, but acceptance has brought contentment and this the most liberating feeling I've felt in a while. The Indian IT sector witnessed its inaugural decline in headcount in 25 years, as highlighted by a recent Mint analysis. This downturn affected major players like Tata Consultancy Services, as well as firms such as LTIMindtree and Persistent Systems, indicating a significant shift in the industry's long-standing employment trajectory, Signals a transformative phase possibly influenced by changing market dynamics or strategic realignments within the industry. #indiajobs #marketdemand #linkedin #itservicesprovider #itsector #india

I've been applying for jobs recently and have faced rejections from several companies. While I understand I may not always be the perfect fit, I have a genuine request for all recruiters and companies. It's okay if I'm not the "best" match, but before rejecting an application, please consider sharing feedback on areas for improvement. Feedback on specific skills to enhance, certifications to pursue, or areas of experience to gain would be incredibly valuable. Many job seekers like me can feel frustrated and lose confidence during this process, but constructive feedback helps us grow and improve. A single line of constructive feedback in the rejection email can make a significant difference and help us grow and become better candidates. I encourage others in the community to share their experiences or tips on navigating job rejections. Your insights could be beneficial to many of us. Thank you for your consideration and support. #JobSearch #CareerDevelopment Career Group HR Path HRS Group Recruiting Tata Consultancy Services Tata Technologies Infosys Infosys BPM Wipro HCLTech Tata Technologies Tech Mahindra Cognizant Capgemini IBM Accenture in India Mindtree Freshworks Razorpay Zerodha Unacademy BYJU'S Zoho InMobi Postman BrowserStack CureFit CureFit Mphasis Hexaware Technologies Persistent Systems Cyient NIIT Technologies Limited Zensar Technologies Happiest Minds Technologies Birlasoft Mindtree

In the world of Shark Tank, everyone thinks they should start their own business. Worse, people think that those in a job are losers. They have sold their soul. They have become part of a rat race. That's a lie! A corporate job, early in your career can shape you up meaningfully. 1. It gives you financial stability, something that most of us value immensely early in our career. 2. It teaches you the power of planning, of systems, of processes. 3. It shows you the magic of teams and how your individual contribution at a micro level comes together with that of several others, to create impact at a macro level. You do not become cool, by dissing on those who have a job. Grateful. Wipro

A Chennai-based company gifted 28 cars, including Merc-Benz, and 29 bikes to employees as Diwali gifts. The MD of Team Detailing Solutions, shared that this initiative aims to boost motivation, morale, and productivity among their 180 employees. Apart from this, they also provide financial assistance for employees' weddings! I’ve been in this industry for a long time, working with Infosys, Wipro, the whole gang. But I’ve never seen a company go to such lengths to keep employees happy. But this shift is not surprising given today’s ever dynamic markets. People are any company's greatest asset. And in the two startups I’ve built, I’ve seen firsthand—jab log saath dete hai toh kya kya nahi ho sakta. I know not everyone can gift Mercs, but we should still make an effort to show our team that we care and appreciate them. To start, sabse pehle soan papdi se aagey badhte hai! 😂 #india #startup #work #team #productivity

Big IT players like Infosys , Tata Consultancy Services , and Tech Mahindra have fuelled consistent growth, elevating software exports from Odisha. The state's indigenous IT firms have surged in business maturity, market reach, and quality standards, signalling a notable transformation in its IT landscape. The Odisha Government has successfully positioned itself as a global IT leader by fostering a conducive landscape and infrastructure. With industry giants like Deloitte and PwC , along with upcoming projects like Bharat Biotech's Bio-technological plant and JSW 's EV Manufacturing plant in Bhubaneswar, the focus extended to providing skilled labour. Through initiatives like Skilled in Odisha programs, the government ensures a robust base of local talent. This strategic approach not only transforms the IT landscape but also solidifies Odisha's position as the IT Hub of East India, supported by cutting-edge infrastructure, substantial foreign investments, and a pool of skilled professionals, preventing tech migration to other cities.
