The board is focused on enhancing the practical relevancy of the Chaplin School's real estate curriculum and expanding experiential learning opportunities for students through internships, mentoring and direct engagement with industry leaders. According to the official release, real estate comprises the largest portion of most hospitality investments. In addition, its operations-intensive nature positions it among the most complex of all types of commercial real estate. These two factors, together with ever greater demand for experience-based value creation across all commercial property sectors, are expected to drive strong demand for hospitality-specific real estate expertise well into the future. “Sometimes things feel like they take forever and then happen in the blink of an eye.” This note from my favorite creator (Timm Chiusano) rocked my world this morning. Far too often I fall victim to accomplishing one goal and then just immediately bouncing on to the next without taking time to reflect. Which leads me to feel as if I'm always standing at the bottom of a mountain, looking at the peak and thinking: "How the hell am I going to get up there?" - Without even acknowledging the fact that there's an entire range of mountains behind me that I have already trekked over the years. 2017 - "I didn't get a traditional 4 year degree, how am I supposed to get an internship? Not only that, how am I going to get one that pays me?" 2018 - "My internships ending soon. How am I going to get a full time job in the field I desire?" 2019 - "Don't think a normal job is for me. I want to build something." 2020 - "Business is built. How are we going to scale it to 5 figures MRR?" 2021 - "5 figures MRR? Check. Let's do 6 figures now." 2022 - "6 figures MRR? Check. What now? This isn't fulfilling me like I thought it would... maybe 7 figures will?" 2023 - "Nope, that didn't do it either. Clearly money isn't the answer to fulfillment - Let's take it back to square 1 and build something new." 2024 - "Whoa. Wait, it's 2024? I swear it was 2017 yesterday..." When it feels like a project is never going to end, or a goal is never going to be accomplished - Just take a moment to reflect on what you've already achieved. Think of it like your own personal case study - Marinate on those past wins and find peace in the fact that you've already climbed many a mountain within your own journey. What's one more? So what if the mountain is a little taller this time? You got it🤝

Hey there, my most favorite people on earth!   I’m so delighted to announce that I’ve successfully completed the skiing season of 2023-24, a 3-months, what to call it? Internship… Bootcamp… Extracurricular activity… Do you know what? Let’s not get entangled in labels, because it’s the substance that should matter anyways.   But long story short, I’m so insanely grateful for this wonderful learning opportunity. Being in the mountains, shredding those slopes, just dancing and carving, was absolutely amazing, and it gave me the time and peace of mind to do some reflecting.   In today’s world, with all the social pressures we are dealing with, it’s actually hard to be doing nothing, or well, to be doing nothing professionally.   I mean, the pressure is real, right?   You have all your friends, colleagues, and classmates announcing great things, a prestigious internship, a rewarding promotion at a company, a new certificate completed (congrats Peter K. Szabo btw, I’m genuinely proud!), and there you are, without any career trophies to inflate. The Americans have truly expanded their mind over us and our obsession with career building has become insane.   In this new environment, magnified by social media and the constant bragging people are incentivized to spam their community with, it can be hard to identify our genuine dreams. Culture is over-powering, and it’s often the authentic self that gets lost in the craze.   In light of this, the opportunities of the past few months seem even more impressive. They weren’t anything LinkedIn-worthy, but they were all the more worth actually living and experiencing.   So, while this post has started out as a mere prank on our LinkedIn activities, I would recommend in all seriousness that we all take a step back and reflect on what we are doing and why we are doing it because it’s so very easy to get caught up in the hamster wheel of life and just start chasing our careers all blindly.   Regular health checks are customary, and our plans and dreams deserve the same! 💪     Cheers,

Everyone wants the quick path to success - to land a job working for their dream team without putting in the work before hand. That’s just not reality. Pro sports business teams off-the-field function similarly to the pro sports teams on-the-field that they support. You’ve usually gotta spend time on the practice squad. And before the practice squad, you’ve gotta have years of experience in your position/field/niche. So get internships as early as your first semester of college! Because… The sooner you start, the sooner you fail. The sooner you fail, the sooner you learn. The sooner you learn, the sooner you win!

I had a 1on1 meeting with Mister Elchin Mammadov and had some great insights and tips on getting started in the sports industry! Here's the scoop: 1. Learn both hard skills (Marketing, Analysis, management etc) and soft skills (Communication, leadership, people management, etc) 2. Start networking with clubs and people in your area. 3. Connect with previous or existing members of the club, not big federations. 4. Have a clear goal in mind before connecting with them, why when what are your goals. Remember, your Sports Management journey isn't just random—it's your ticket to the future! Try internships, different classes, and volunteer gigs to figure out what you love. Stepping out of high school, I’m consciously choosing to take a gap year. All through my school days, I've been chasing after top grades while juggling internships, and all sorts of activities. I remember those crazy times organizing events while also studying hard for exams. I recall the exhilarating challenge of organizing a week-long event while navigating Class 12 pre-boards.📝 Now, as I take this break, let me be clear - it's not about "finding myself" or lacking direction🧭 I know exactly where I'm headed and what I want. 💡 I'm taking this path because I believe in taking risks! 💥 When I told my school counselor about my plans, she was pretty surprised 🤯 "You've got some guts" she said, knowing not many students opt for this path 💪🏻 So, what's on the agenda for this year? 🌈 Lots of new experiences! I'll be diving into internships, working on my fitness just as much as I've worked on my studies and extracurriculars.🏋♀️And yeah, I'll be stepping out of my comfort zone, exploring new places and meeting new people. 🌍 This journey, which I planned back in late summer of 2023, holds the promise of change and excitement. I've never met Brian, and this isn't meant to take away from his post but add to it. Remember that this isn't a full list. - Get in any way you can - Yes. Make connections, get experience, get exposure. But don't treat those opportunities like a "foot in the door". - Get transferable skills - Absolutely. Build your skills set and know where you want to go. - Add Value in your current role - Absolutely. Always. There's one important step that I want to make sure isn't ignored. You have to know where you're heading before you can know how to get there. When people ask me about getting a job in the NBA, there is a LOT of variance to that question. A job in Scouting looks a lot different than a job in Sponsorship. Don't treat them like they're the same. Paths can and often will change mid route, and that's OK, but don't "One size fits all" the league or industry.
