https://lnkd.in/e-swp5Kp This is it! 🎵 I am so thrilled to share with you my last work for orchestra, Shores (working title: "Longing For Belonging"), conducted by Erin Bodnar. I want to thank the Mostly Modern Festival for choosing my work and giving me this tremendous opportunity to make my music happen - it's more rare than you could imagine! The piece has a suffered story. If you want to know more about it, here's an extract of the program notes. "It all started with “The Island” - a long time ago, probably during the pandemic in 2020, as a musical theater piece [...] meant to be based on a dialogue by Cesare Pavese, part of the book “Dialoghi con Leucò”. I remember reading this book and that “The Island” dialogue in particular, and getting so emotionally involved. It was about the story between Odysseus and Calypso, in a sort of alternative ending of the Odyssey where the protagonist decides not to come back home, but stay on the island with Calypso, because - freely paraphrasing her words from the book: It's just an island, what difference does it make where you decide to lie down and rest your head? And even if you eventually manage to come back to Ithaca, will you even be able to recognize your own houses after 20 years? And the people? Some of them will certainly be understanding, but will you ever be able to share what you have seen and done? You will feel more alone than in the sea. At the time, I found it interesting for the implications of the piece: it was full of insights about what it means to be isolated, and what is the meaning of travel and returning home. It was, as I said, during the pandemic, so of course, the theme was also resonating with the current situation in my life where I was in Germany and couldn’t come back home to Italy. It was a tough time in my life, I was scared for my loved ones - I remember having nightmares every single night. Anyway, the project evolved, but I never actually managed to make it an opera: not only because of the lack of funding, but also - to be honest - because the dialogue was so full and rich of intellectual interest that I found it difficult to transpose it into a libretto to be sung and not really “understood”.

Absolute joke! How the government continue to prop up this shambles of a company, constantly operating at a loss, services are terrible, customer service a lot to be desired, complete waste of time complaining to them. Constantly cancelling services especially the glider of which there is nowhere near enough of, but services get to Colin connect then ‘cancel’ everyone kicked off even though there’s only 2 stops left, just to make your stats look good, but leave your fare paying customers to walk. government needs to unlock the monopoly. #imaginewherewecouldgo if we had decent services Across in England, each town and city has at least 3/4 bus operators, healthy competition, here in Belfast, 1 company, terrible service, no night service, ridiculous prices, staff have the audacity to strike for bigger wages

why not get bored?? the festival celebrated by the whole country is here again. celebrating for 78 years but is this festival is still not boring to anyone. why..why.. there is no traditions, no caste and religious differences and there is no need to spend much money. after so many years of struggle, how can this festival be forgotten so quickly? it is better to say that.. we want freedom than to say that.. we fought for the country. what we can do without freedom? to study we need freedom.. to play, job, business.. at least we want to speak we want freedom. the first step for all these we need freedom. a country is not meant to be ruled by a few people. it should be recognise it that everything we do to get the in all fields is important. let's build a beautiful country together and the right is above all.. again let celebrate together and let's make our country beautiful.. happy independence day.

Christmas Arts ... again and still. Ring Cycle done! I am going to update my SM tag now to read “Ring Cycle graduate!” I was a bit worried about the length of it, and people kept saying words like “huge commitment”. But it wasn’t. Primarily because it is presented in a very contemporary style with lots of tech and awesome sound and is engaging in a sci-fi kind of way without compromising the work. And … ya gotta come to BrisVegas to see it! The city that is doing amazing stuff in the Arts. Re-inventing traditional arts forms in new and exciting ways … like this production of The Ring Cycle. It is not just the big guys on this path though. Looking behind the glam of what Opera Australia is doing here there is a new noise going on. (and yes, I will admit – OA does stuff in other places as well … but just not in the BrisVegas way), Part of the noise in Brisbane is Springboard Opera. And our noise is… Opera for All. 📺 How to save #CSDDD (the soap opera continues) ⛔ Was last week a good moment for the future of #CSDDD... No ✅ BUT can #CSDDD be saved & still pass in this #EU parliament... YES ❓How can this be done - practically? ➡ #EU member states still have concerns but for many these are only minor & they can be addressed through small text changes ➡ #MEPs in the European Parliament can include these changes in the final plenary vote set for end April ❓How can this be done - politically? ➡ The role of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of European Union is key - they must bring #EU member states together to address the concerns ➡ To ensure the integrity of future negotiations, #EU member states must engage constructively, state their concerns & work to find a solution ⁉ Will they get this done... that is the million 💲💲💲 question 💪 BUT is it possible - YES they can get this done, they STILL have time to get this done, AND a majority of stakeholders WANT them to get this done 👀 So watch this space... #corporateaccountability #transitionplanning
