You know how we always say, "Why didn't they teach us about Money in high school!?" and not like home ec, but like the real stuff. My friend Theresa is teaching THAT class. The real stuff. It's hard to know where to even begin if you've never broached the topic of how to begin investing and moving money to where it does work (that's me, btw)... which is EXACTLY why this is a thing. These price points may seem small to some, but to others, they represent a difficult choice. Your donation can bridge the gap inflation has created. We think our kids don’t care about money?? Think again. Financial Literacy Month just ended April 30th but I wanted to share some highlights from a recent study completed by Citizens and Junior Achievement USA. Citizens recently announced $2.4 million in financial empowerment grants to support 137 nonprofit organizations, including $415,000 to Junior Achievement. According to the survey of 1,000 teens ages 13–18 conducted by Wakefield Research, money worries weigh heavily on American adolescents: ▶️ 78% report they are currently stressed out about money ▶️ 74% shared that their family’s money situation is a barrier to achieving their future goals. ▶️ 77% of teens said they would be interested in taking a course to better understand how to manage money The desire to learn is there. Will we help prepare them? Will we give them the skills and ability to avoid financial hardship? You can help! April is Financial Literacy Month. Every day Junior Achievement is working with schools to help increase financial literacy across our region. Here is 1 reason why you should consider donating to Junior Achievement. While a National Endowment for Financial Education study found that 69% of Millennials consider themselves to be financially knowledgeable, when tested only 24% showed basic understanding. Summer is fast approaching, and for many students experiencing #homelessness, these are the months they are most vulnerable to go without the supports they receive when schools are in session. The purpose of this sub-grant is to elevate the profile and provide resources for the growth of the organization/initiative of not-yet-recognized leaders doing exceptional work who may struggle to be recognized in traditional national fundraising and communication efforts.
