Kerala, Karnataka, and Maharashtra together contribute to about 80% of the COVID hotspots reported in the country, according to statistics provided by the central government. The variant of concern, J.N.1, has also been confirmed in Kerala. Among these states, Karnataka has been consistently reporting the highest number of J.N.1 COVID cases. As of Wednesday, Karnataka has reported 511 cases of J.N.1. Timely diagnosis of NCDs allows prompt intervention, prevents complications, reduces substantial financial burden and promotes physical and mental well-being. With an intent to promote equitable health and wellbeing for all, VHAI in collaboration with the local Health Administration is organizing screening, and sensitisation camps for NCDs, Anaemia and other common ailments in remote pockets of Odisha. Community volunteers and young enablers along with front line health workers are mobilising communities for the camps wherein screening is being conducted by local PHC/CHC medical officers and health professionals at the community level. Hello, connections! I've been visiting a renowned private hospital in Patna for a week now. As expected from such a reputed institution, it boasts excellent facilities and highly skilled doctors. However, the management issues are quite glaring. This isn't just a problem for this particular hospital but a common issue across many large hospitals in our country. Patients, already in distress, often face the ordeal of moving from one department to another, waiting in long queues, and sometimes even for days before their turn arrives. Even after this exhausting process, the wait for a surgery or operation can be prolonged, further deteriorating their condition. We are often confused in the large pile of checkup and test files. As we are becoming digitalized, a digital health record system will be a great move in this direction and reduce the hassle to a large extent. I'm not here to single out or blame this hospital. Instead, I want to highlight the urgent need to improve our medical infrastructure so that everyone can get timely care. Often, medical negligence due to miscommunication can be reduced by training the support staff in a better way. Public awareness towards health and promoting generic medicine can help reduce stress among common people. More investment in health and creating affordable policies can relieve patients from cost distress. As we aim for a #ViksitBharat by 2047, I firmly believe the health sector will play a crucial role in this vision. We often overlook the importance of health when we are young, leading sedentary lifestyles. It's only when we experience pain and frequent doctor visits that we realize its true value. Let's work together to ensure that every individual can receive prompt and efficient medical care.
