We‘re on a journey to push #sustainability to new heights – from our products to our supply chain, and even in the #environment. 🌿 ✨ In collaboration with ClimatePartner and Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald Landesverband Bayern e. V. (German Forest Protection Association), our team and their families rolled up their sleeves for a #treeplanting event. 🌳 The outcome is inspiring: The first 200 out of 4,000 trees were planted in a Bavarian state forest, laying the foundation for further initiatives. However, these aren't just any trees – they're resilient Douglas firs, specially chosen to deal better with #climatechange. Though they are only seedlings now, they promise a #greenerfuture that will have a #positiveimpact on both #nature and #futuregenerations. 🌱 💚 #PERI #PERImpact

The 2023 Forest Declaration Assessment report is live!! 🐣 I am hugely proud of the team and all our partners and contributors who made this possible! Over 100 individuals contributed to making this one of the most comprehensive reports on the state of global action to protect and restore forests yet! 🐝 They are too many to name here, but special shout out to lead authors Erin D. Matson Ivan Palmegiani Imogen Long Franziska Haupt Anna Rynearson as well as those who worked with me on the Rights and Governance assessment, including Lydia Omuko-Jung, Gema Andreo Victoria, Jade Pradines, Iola Leal Riesco, Jennifer Skene, Angus Mac Innes, María José Rodezno Ayestas, Nicole Polsterer, Chloe Ginsburg, David Kroeker Maus, Kerstin Canby, Sarah Bouchon, Charlotte Streck, Tim Dawson, Rachel E. Golden Kroner, PhD, Lucía Ruiz Bustos, and many others. 🙌 The message to politicians and business leaders is clear: you have made the goals, now it is time to deliver. 🕦 Right now, we are way of track and need a rapid turnaround if we are to halt deforestation in line with the Glasgow Leaders Declaration and so many other commitments. We urgently need to shift financial flows, protect Indigenous and community rights, adopt strong laws to protect and restore forests, and invest in implementing and enforcing them. 🏛 🌳 Please do share the findings widely to ensure this important message reaches the right people. And of course, feel free to get in touch if you would like to learn more or, even better, get involved! 🌱 https://lnkd.in/eqhFu6PV

The theme of this year's The National Association of Conservation Districts' Stewardship Week, "May the Forest Be with You, Always," emphasizes the vital role of forests in soil and water conservation. Forests are crucial for sustaining life on Earth— providing oxygen, storing carbon, and supporting biodiversity. They also protect soil and water resources, preventing erosion and purifying contaminants. In the face of environmental challenges, resilient forests are essential for a sustainable world. "May the Forest Be with You, Always" symbolizes NACD's commitment to responsible forest stewardship. During Stewardship Week, conservation districts nationwide engage in various activities to celebrate and promote forests. They educate communities through contests, workshops, and events, fostering a deeper understanding of the forest's importance. By inspiring action and emphasizing collective responsibility, Stewardship Week ensures the preservation of forests for future generations. Learn more at https://bit.ly/4dhMu4O.

I can 110% recommend this webinar and the 3 Horizons approach for anyone grappling with clearing the fog clouding their organisation’s long term transition path to sustainability - I’ve used it with clients and it can be very powerful…
One of the most effective tools we use in our work at Bounce Beyond is the Three Horizons framework. If you find yourself in your organisations struggling with complexity, uncertainty or powerful strategic action in context of sustainable and regenerative action, then you'll benefit from this free session we're holding on October 2nd. I'll be joined by my colleagues Steve Waddell and Lesley Southwick-Trask, as well as the great Bill Sharpe from Future Stewards and Sarah Gammage from The Nature Conservancy. We'll dive into the Three Horizons and its uses, and share an exciting case from our work with The Nature Conservancy in the Selva Maya and Mesoamerican Reef. Climate and environmental preservation have long been important components of Gerolsteiner Brunnen's business strategy. As a result, active forest protection motivates them to act in a sustainable manner since healthy forests serve as natural water filters and reservoirs, ensuring clean groundwater. In 2013, the company launched the Gerolsteiner Zukunftswald project (Future Forest by Gerolsteiner) in collaboration with the State woods of Rhineland-Palatinate with the goal of reforesting wood in a climate-resilient manner. Future Forest now boasts over 165,000 climate-stable trees covering an area the size of 75 soccer fields (520,000 m2). They deliberately rely on the planting of climate-resilient mixed trees, which are more equipped to withstand the effects of climate change than the spruce monocultures that were established in this area in the nineteenth century. Furthermore, in deciduous and mixed woods, more new groundwater forms than in pure coniferous forests. The State Forests of Rhineland-Palatinate hail the project as a significant help to the region's forests. The forest is therefore kept fit, and clean water is ensured in the long run. This motivates Gerolsteiner to continue planting at least 20,000 new trees every year until 2025.
