Imagine you could serve verified carbon-neutral coffee at your company this year! ☕️ The two Certified B Corps CleverCoffee from Denmark and Sancoffee from Brazil joined forces to tackle the environmental impact of coffee to develop a carbon-neutral product. Their joint coffee “Impact No. 01” is carbon neutral by The Net-Zero Standard (SBTi) meaning that the carbon emissions have been reduced by more than 90% before compensating for the remaining 10% through fellow B Corp, Ecologi | B Corp™. The calculations of the emissions in the value chain - from a small plant to roasted and delivered coffee beans - have been verified by Green Solutions and Force Technologies. In 2023, coffee Impact No. 01 as an alternative to conventional coffee saved more than 230 tons of CO2. “Combining our efforts and measuring the footprint across the whole value chain felt like a natural next step for us. Without awareness, there’s no change. And we believe understanding the impact of the whole journey can help us and all industry players think more holistically about the problem and look for new ways to reduce impact collectively.” – Fabricio, CEO of Sancoffee Learn more about this #BCorp collaboration here 👉 https://bit.ly/4asMf5s and here 👉 https://bit.ly/4asqcvJ

The coffee industry is booming and demand is expected to triple production by 2050. Over 9.5 billion kg of coffee is produced around the world each year, generating a trade value of USD 30.9 billion. Traditionally, coffee production requires high water consumption and emits a lot of greenhouse gases throughout the process. To address these challenges, many organisations have adopted ESG principles in coffee farming and sourcing. By prioritising ethical practices and sustainability, these organisations aim to ensure the long-term viability of the coffee industry. Let's explore the carbon footprint of various coffee styles to understand how our choices can contribute to a more sustainable future. #ConnectingSustainabilityToStrategy #sustainablebusiness #esgstrategy #sustainable #coffee

𝗧𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: 𝗞𝗲𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗘𝗨𝗗𝗥) 🌱 🌍 In an increasingly environmentally conscious world, the European Union has established a strict regulatory framework to combat global deforestation, directly affecting coffee supply chains. Here we break down the 8 key points of the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) that every company in the coffee sector should be aware of: 1. 𝗗𝘂𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗢𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 ✅ : EUDR requires companies to conduct thorough due diligence, ensuring that imported/exported coffee does not contribute to deforestation after December 31, 2020. 2. 𝗙𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 🕵♀️ : Traceability of coffee must be guaranteed, from the production plot to the final consumer, including accurate geolocation data of the place of cultivation. 3. 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 🌳 : Companies must verify and demonstrate that coffee complies with local production laws and does not come from deforested land. 4. 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 ⌛ : Operators not classified as SMEs must publicly report their due diligence systems annually, increasing transparency. 5. 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 👨🌾 : The EUDR recognizes the importance of small producers and provides guidelines for including them in supply chains in a sustainable way. 6. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 ⚡ : Companies must act proactively, adapting their supply chains to comply with these regulations and thus avoiding any disruption to their business operations. 📈 This is a crucial moment for coffee companies. Adapting to the EUDR is not only a legal requirement but also an opportunity to lead in sustainability and environmental responsibility. It is essential to start or continue the process of adapting to these regulations to actively contribute to the global fight against deforestation. 🌟 𝗜𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: We encourage you to review your current processes, implement the necessary due diligence systems and ensure that your coffee supply chain is completely sustainable and deforestation-free. It's time to act for our planet and for a sustainable future for the coffee industry! 🌱☕ #EUDR #SustainableCoffee #ZeroDeforestation #SupplyChain #Sustainability #ClimateAction

The #coffee industry faces a critical challenge in #sustainable practices amidst increasing demand and #climatechange impacts. Coffee, recognized as a significant contributor to global #deforestation and forest degradation, is estimated to cause approximately 100,000 hectares of deforestation annually (Daily Coffee News: 2023). Moreover, Coffee is explicitly listed among the agricultural sectors affected by the new European Union Deforestation-Free Regulation (#EUDR). With Coffee ranking among the seven commodities driving deforestation, accounting for 7.0% of the total (Café Imports Europe: 2024), understanding the implications of EUDR for coffee businesses becomes paramount. Read more of our recent articles and find out: ✅ What does EUDR mean for Coffee businesses? 🏢 How can coffee businesses demonstrate compliance with these requirements? 📍How is KOLTIVA helping Coffee businesses meet EUDR requirements?
