“Just 7 per cent of bosses currently have AI or so-called GenAI governance structures in place, according to a survey from PwC Ireland. That figure has changed little since November when the survey was last carried out. I recently asked AI to "show me an image of a leader". The response? A tall, white, middle-aged man in a suit, standing on a podium, being applauded by similar-looking men. I repeated the request six more times and received mostly the same image. Then, I asked it to "show me an image of a different type of leader". Twenty attempts in total, only images of men (shown below). When I questioned this, the AI replied, "I’m sorry, results can be biased." How often do we stop to check in on our own biases?
