To address micronutrient deficiencies of the large group of people, there is no alternative way of Food Fortification. In Bangladesh, rice is the staple food and so government adopted Rice Fortification for the ultra-poor vulnerable people through Food Friendly Programme and Vulnerable Women Benefit since 2013. Though Government is committed to continue the distribution of fortified rice in the social safety net programs. But it is still needed to keep advocacy, providing technical and financial support to the government for policy formulation, monitoring tools development and capacity strengthening of the government officials. As well as keep continuing the technical support to the rice millers for quality production of fortified rice and smooth supply chain of rice fortification. Nutrition International has been providing support to the government and rice millers since 2016 in Bangladesh and playing a key role in rice fortification program. On the other hand, rice millers are also trying to attract the consumers to consume fortified rice instead of consuming normal rice and demand creation of fortified rice.
