Throughout history, rapid technological advancements have consistently reshaped societies, economies, and ways of life. From the Industrial Revolution to the digital age, each breakthrough has brought both unprecedented opportunities, unforeseen challenges and changes to the labor market. Looking at recent times, the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) bridged with behaviorial science is now profoundly evolving the notion of customer experience (CX) across business, society, and elections. In business, AI is transforming how companies engage with customers, offering hyper-personalized, real-time interactions. Beyond commerce, AI-driven algorithms shape societal experiences, from social media content to public services and well-fare. In elections, AI tools influence voter behavior through targeted messaging and data analytics, altering how political campaigns connect with constituents. As AI permeates all aspects of life, the traditional concept of experience is expanding, redefining expectations across sectors and reshaping how we interact with the world. In collaboration and support from leading research institutes, tech service providers and thought leaders I have worked the past year to deliver this keynote that addresses both the opportunities and challenges of this development. Opportunities, in terms of what AI could do for us beyond automated customer service or SAAS functionality supported by large language models (LLMs). Challenges, including the threats it may pose, giving examples to the upcoming US election, where one could ask if we really should make data great(er) again? The level of content of the keynote is constructed to fit all audiences, as I want challenge all individuals, business professionals and researchers across sectors to start to make yourselves more aware beyond the obvious opportunities and challenges. Will AI save retail? That was one of the questions when foodora’s own Prashant Søegaard met with Freddy Sobin, from XXL Norge and XXL Sverige, and Torbjørn Røe Isaksen on the E24.no stage at Oslo Business Forum. A firm “No”. That was Prashant’s answer. AI or any other technology alone will not save anyone or anything. At foodora Norway we simply couldn’t do what we do without our 4500 riders, our thousands of vendors or the dedicated team at HQ. Yet, technology plays a vital role in how we drive growth and efficiency. From helping restaurant partners achieve a 60% increase in orders within six months to providing riders—from Alta to Kristiansand—with consistent income, being a tech-driven company is at the heart of everything we do. The key takeaway: Technology alone won’t save the day—but without it, neither can we grow.
