Strategic Planning | Future Thinker | Equity Advocate | Innovative Solutions | Storyteller | Ngāi Tahu | Lets make things better
I talked a bit about our new venture Kirini - which is exciting because it has the expertise of Richard Morris with is an architect, but so much more - he has just completed his PhD in Agroecology. In a nutshell agroecology is sustainable farming that works with nature. What that means is our approach to design and planning is different to many others. This isn't a fad - it's science based long term thinking, because we have to change the way we do things. -> It's about looking at whenua and working with it to ensure that it is protected for the future. -> It's looking at economic development that won't destroy the land. -> It's food security -> It's working with, and planning for the changes that will come as our climate changes. in the last century and a half NZ has been good at making lots of money off the land in a way, but in a way which has been highly damaging. We need to shift our thinking into ways which have an economic base but tread lightly on the land. Check us out, and message if you want to know more, and pass this on - it's exciting! #maori | #indigenous | #papakainga | #architecture | #agroecology #conceptdesign | #sustainabilty | #climatechange | #codesign Tīwaiwaka The Aotearoa Circle https://lnkd.in/g53kmPSp

📣 What if agricultural waste could revolutionize our agri-food system? This is the course our researchers and their international partners are pursuing in the framework of the Green ERA-Hub (GEH) LIFE project: https://lnkd.in/dQt967Fd 🌽 🚜 Their objective is to transform traditional #agriculturalwaste – specifically animal manure – into safe, rich, organic, liquid fertilizers to be used in #hydroponic farming. ℹ To ensure the stability and safety of the fertilizers produced, our researchers will develop #DigitalTwin technologies that control the transformation process and monitor crop evolution on the hydroponic farms.
