🌊 EVENT: GUH Moorings and Anchors Conference & Workshop 📅 Wednesday, 06 March 2024 🕣 08:30 – 16:30 📍 The Biscuit Factory, Newcastle Major investment is set to be made in developing floating offshore wind in UK waters in the coming decades. To deliver this, thousands of anchors, lengths of chain, buoyancy units and clump weights will be required alongside thousands of kilometres of rope. Next month, Global Underwater Hub will host a one-day conference and workshop focused on the key elements of the life cycle of mooring and anchoring systems that will be needed to meet the planned investment in floating offshore wind, not just in the UK, but also overseas. Taking place in Newcastle, this event will bring together key industry stakeholders to discuss underwater mooring and anchoring systems. If you are involved in floating offshore wind, or designing, manufacturing, transporting, installing, inspecting, repairing and maintaining mooring and anchoring systems, this conference and workshop is a must attend event. An excellent line-up of speakers will present at the event, including representatives of InterMoor, Bridon-Bekaert The Ropes Group, Delmar Systems, DOF, First Marine Solutions, Flotation Energy, Global Maritime, Ossian Wind Farm, PGS, SCHOTTEL Marine Technologies and Global Underwater Hub. Book your place and be part of the discussion around this important area of underwater engineering. 💻 Full details: https://lnkd.in/eKN8z3wP #GUHMoorings #GlobalUnderwaterHub #GUHEvents #Newcastle #MooringsandAnchors #offshorewind #floatingoffshorewind #floatingsystems #moorings #floatingwind #underwaterengineering #Newcastlevents #offshorerenewables

Large pipes are quite an unusual sight at the port in Roenne and there is a solid reason for that. The Dutch company Van Oord has set up operations at the habour, preparing for the shipment of massive foundations for a new wind turbine project in the Baltic Sea. This exciting project will run well into 2025 and requires local workforce support and contributions from local suppliers. One of the first tasks is establishing sandbanks to support these impressive foundations. The port previously managed foundations for Arcadis Ost 1. "The current foundations are enormous steel structures, resembling over-sized straws. At nearly 100 meters in length and 10 meters in diameter, these structures are driven into the seabed to stabilize the tower, turbine, and blades that will be mounted on top,” says Jeppe la Cour, Commercial Director at Port of Roenne A/S. Once at Roenne, these elements are securely stored, minimizing the risk of delays when it’s time for transport. When they’re ready for deployment, each foundation is capped at both ends and transported to its final position on the water, where a specialized vessel manages the installation. Local businesses are set to benefit from this project, both through the creation of sandbanks and logistics support. Each foundation weighs up to 2,000 tons, requiring robust storage solutions at the harbor. “Local companies have the chance to contribute, as we’ll need resources like sand and stone sourced locally. Past projects have shown that involving local vendors is both viable and beneficial for all parties,” adds Jeppe, who also serves on the board of Offshore Center Bornholm - a network for offshore-linked businesses in the region.

Companies like Foss are making big moves in the wind industry on the upper East Coast. The infrastructure for vessels that support this industry is getting a much-needed overhaul, making it safer and more efficient for companies like Foss to do their job. As a Maritime MSP for Foss tugs, I can attest that these new facilities will make it easier for us to do our job also. #offshorewind, #MaritimeMSP, #vesselIT

Havfram is proud to announce that the Keel Laying ceremony for our Wind Turbine Installation Jack-up vessel “Norse Wind” has taken place. 🎊 The formal recognition of the start of the vessel`s construction was festively marked with Havfram Wind CEO Even Larsen and the Havfram newbuild team present at Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd. shipyard in Yantai, China. ⚙With Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd. we are currently building not one, but two of the most modern WTIV’s with the highest capacity for offshore wind construction. 🤝 The Keel Laying (celebrated with fireworks!) is right on time with the initial schedule, a clear result of the excellent cooperation and teamwork between the two parties. We would like to express special gratitude towards the management and project team of our excellent cooperation partner Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd. in China. 👀 Now, that the first modules are laid in the dock, “ Norse Wind” will take shape and we will follow her building process with excitement. #Havfram #WindTurbineInstallationVessel #KeelLaying #JackUp

In April the offshore installation vessel Orion (DEME Group) completed the installation of 29 monopile foundations for the 15 MW turbines at Ocean Winds' Moray West offshore wind farm in Scotland, despite challenging winter conditions. The project, which will produce 882 MW of energy, marks a significant milestone with advanced tools like the Quad Vibro Hammer and M90 bolting equipment. Heavy equipment used in offshore lifting operations requires delicate handling. Synthetic round slings, such as Enduro Softslings, are lightweight and significantly reduce the risk of damaging expensive tools and materials. Additionally, these slings require minimal deck space for storage and are easier for riggers to handle, which helps streamline operations where time is always a critical factor. Learn more about our heavy-duty HMPE softslings on our website https://lnkd.in/eNTX_-sF or let our product specialists advise you on technical questions and challenges.
