Look, salary will always be important to job seekers when they’re considering where to apply and whether to accept. But there’s something they actually care about more than money these days, and that’s their work-life balance. I say this as a President and CEO at Gables Search Group who talks to job seekers every day, but it’s also quantifiable in a recent poll by Randstad, the world’s biggest employment agency, which recently found that 57% of workers would simply not accept a job that would negatively impact their work-life balance, even if it paid better. What exactly does that constitute? Things like the ability to work from home at least some of the time and to set their own hours — within reason, of course. Whether or not you’re working with a recruiter to improve your prospects for hiring the right talent, take a look at these factors. Working with a recruiter can also help you really sell your benefits — including work-life balance options — to prospective employees.

Recruiters, how do you make sure your offer will seal the deal with your candidate? I posted on Friday about work-life balance or wages being reasons for people to decline an offer. No surprise that everyone wants something different. Many businesses offer flexi benefits which allow employees to tailor their choices to suit their preferences and lifestyle. Instead of waiting until they are in the business why don't we ask their preferences alongside salary expectations? Do they prefer more holidays? Do they prefer high pension contributions? Do they want a higher learning allowance? At offer stage those benefits could be built into the offer and provide a truly bespoke deal sweetener. Who doesn't like the cherry on top (or sprinkles if that's your thing)? What's your thoughts? Would this secure more offer acceptances? ------------------------------ Hi, I'm Alastair and I run Sprout. where we dig into the dirt of how cultivating your people can help your business bloom 🌺. Absolutely! There is a cultural shift towards redefining success, this shift involves aligning strategy and culture, focusing on a few critical behaviors, honoring the strengths of the existing culture, and engaging in a process to realign the culture to the vision, mission, and core values of the organization.
There is a cultural shift towards redefining success. The importance of well-being and personal fulfillment in work is growing. This is not to say that a high salary is no longer important. Rather, it highlights that more and more employees are looking for opportunities that protect their well-being, autonomy, and the pursuit of a fulfilling life, both inside and outside of work, in addition to a competitive salary. The inverse of this statistic means salary is not the top priority for the majority of job seekers. Instead, many are focusing on things like flexibility, work-life balance, benefits, recognition, organizational values and opportunity for growth. Accepting a job based solely on salary may not always lead to fulfillment. Why? As you progress in your career, prioritizing work-life balance becomes essential. It's crucial to investigate the company's culture to determine if it aligns with your values and preferences. Many find themselves in unsatisfactory situations because they overlooked red flags in favor of compensation. But can money alone bring peace? The answer is both yes and no. Yes, if your job aligns with your aspirations, offers a supportive environment, and fosters meaningful connections with colleagues. No, if a hefty paycheck comes at the expense of happiness, appreciation, work-life balance, and a sense of belonging. In conclusion, don't accept a job solely for the paycheck. Salary is not also the only reason some people quit a job. Many quest for fulfilled life and better culture. Company culture isn't always evident in offer letters. Conduct thorough research beforehand to avoid regrets later on. Balancing priorities: When deciding between a higher salary and a positive work environment, it's essential to weigh your professional goals and personal happiness. Sometimes the right choice isn't just about the paycheck but also about the culture that fuels your growth. However, are the current living conditions forcing us to choose salary over a positive work environment? Can we withstand a toxic workplace to cope with the ever increasing cost of living? Are we really happy with a low salary and a good work environment? Is choosing a positive environment over the salary a luxury not everyone can afford? What matters most to you? #CareerChoices #JobVsSalary

It's crucial to work in a company that values your work-life balance. If you're grinding from 9 AM to 9 PM, and even on weekends, it's time to rethink your job. 💼 If your job consumes all your time, you won’t have space to pursue your passions or side hustles. Don't let your job be your only source of income and satisfaction. Be cautious of job offers that seem too good to be true. 💡 Many big IT companies inflate CTC by including components like gratuity, leave encashment, etc making the actual in-hand salary much lower. Always clarify what you'll actually take home. 👥 Community Insight: We've received numerous messages about confusing salary structures. We’re also planning to create a video to discuss this in detail and help everyone understand what to look for in your salary breakdown. Share your experiences and thoughts on work-life balance and salary structures in the comments. Let's support each other in finding jobs that truly value our time and effort. #WorkLifeBalance #JobSatisfaction #CTC #SalaryStructure #CareerAdvice #FinancialAwareness

A salary increase makes you happy once a year. A positive workplace makes you happy the whole year. Therefore, we need both. A salary increase can bring happiness once a year. While a positive workplace environment can contribute to your joy throughout the year. To be happy, people need to be able to afford food, rent, and healthcare, which underscores the importance of a good salary. Therefore, without salary increase will make you miserable for the whole year. Seeing you colleagues getting increment but none for you. People need a supportive and healthy work environment that promotes their mental well-being. But more importantly, be given salary increase. Therefore, it's essential to maintain overall satisfaction and happiness with salary increase even if it is once a year. Agree?
