In PNG, Politics is in anything and everything, I personally wonder, why we have to politicize sports in the country, PNG Politics has already done enough damage to the economy and image of this country, why can't somethings be freed of politics, and able to flourish alone, thank goodness, other sports, have progressed forward in the world stage, like #cricket, and #soccer, have seen growth and recognition with less politics involved. #PNGFailingForward

According to website Rugby365, the sale of Newlands Rugby Stadium - to an undisclosed buyer - was voted on, and approved, at a recent Western Province Rugby Football Union council meeting. Following the move of Western Province Rugby’s professional teams to DHL Stadium in early 2022, Newlands Rugby has ceased to be a rugby venue. When Western Province Rugby was placed under administration by SARU in October 2021, one of the major tasks assigned to the administrator was to finalise the sale of the stadium. One of the obstacles included a proposal to have the stadium declared a heritage site however, an independent report by a heritage specialist suggested otherwise. Recently, Stade Toulousain, one of Europe's most prestigious clubs, joined forces with the Utah Warriors, striking a major blow on the American Rugby Union (XV) market. However, it is Rugby League (XIII) that is about to conquer the American market. This type of rugby, often described as more spectacular and rougher, is about to set foot in the United States. The economic strategy behind this move is questionable and highly risky... But "high-risk = high-reward". I can't wait to see if Rugby League (XIII) can make it on the American market before Rugby Union (XV) rugby does. We observe the South Island NRL Bid being compared with others. Confident in being the next club granted approval to join, we strongly advocate for expanding the National Rugby League men's and women's competitions to 20 teams as soon as feasible. This expansion should ensure sustainability where clubs, players, and communities can prosper. We believe that the South Island of #NewZealand has all the inputs for early success, similar to what was seen with the Melbourne Storm. We believe Rugby league is the premier sport in Australasia, given its extensive reach across the entire Pacific. We acknowledge and respect the efforts of everyone involved in the bid application process, from #PNG to #WesternAustralia. As part of the #rugbyleague community, we aim to collectively strengthen and cement rugby league's position as the leading sport in the Southern Hemisphere. WXV 2024 will see the Women’s XVs tournament be hosted by Canada (WXV 1), South Africa (WXV 2) and Dubai (WXV 3). The top two Asian teams from the Asia Rugby Women's Championship 2024 will qualify for WXV 2 and WXV 3 respectively. The winner also gets a spot at RWC 2025. The three competing teams from Asia are Japan, Kazakhstan and Hong Kong China, with the ARWC hosted in Hong Kong in 2024.
