Future belongs to Media Buyers turned Creative Strategists, (here's why you should learn to be one, too) Unless you’re working with $500k+/month spend ad accounts, being good at creative strategy is a must. In the last 3 months, I’ve made 7 intros for media buyers, when I asked the person who was hiring them: “Do you need a creative or technical media buyer?” They always respond with “creative”. Facebook Ads have changed since 2016, it’s way better at targeting the ideal customer now, media buying became a commodity. Creatives run the media buying now. • Great creative + junior media buyer, will outperform, • Average creative + experienced media buyer. Brands want someone skilled at Creative Strategy, but who also has a grasp on media buying. This market feels like a blue ocean, not many media buyers have mastered the creative strategy, and many editors/creative managers have not yet started to learn about media buying. Earlier last year, I joined the Greater Cities Commission as a digital advisor, aka social media lead. Not long after, Machinery of Government (MOG) changes were announced, leading to the repeal of the Greater Cities Commission Act and to abolish the Greater Cities Commission. This surprising change has prompted me to seek fresh challenges and contribute my skills to a dynamic and innovative team. When one door closes, another one opens, right? 🚪✨ What a whirlwind journey it's been, navigating change in every direction! I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to work alongside some of the best digital gurus to capturing Commissioner headshots for the annual report, curating compelling social media content, analysing and interpreting data to identify trends and insights and making recommendations to increase engagement to filming content and experiencing the manager life (Manager, Digital Content and Strategy) and let me tell you, it's like being the director of your own blockbuster! So, here I am, more motivated than ever to bring my skills and experiences to a team that values creativity, strategic thinking and effective digital communication. Suppose you have some friends that work someplace where the market cap is under ~$1B with ~$2B lost in the past 6 months and in the last quarterly report holds more current liabilities (~$960M) than current assets (~$780M) with continued erosion in cash flows (bled ~$60M in the best quarter of the year).
