There's a lot of confusion these days about the role of Nature-Based Solutions in responsible corporate climate strategies. Are they viable? Relevant? Delivering real impact? Where do they fit in credible action plans? I am happy to have supported an article written by the inimitable Maria Giulia Pelosi aimed at helping companies and investors better understand the balance between supply quality and use integrity that we need to drive evidence-based action and make credible claims. It's meant especially for those who are just starting (or currently reevaluating) their sustainability journey. Want to know more? We are happy to further the conversation at Etifor | Valuing Nature

The greenwashing debate is threatening our climate fight. A dangerous side effect has emerged in the quest for climate action: greenhushing. Companies are retreating from transparency and bold action, silencing their sustainability efforts for fear of being labeled “greenwashers.” But can we afford this hesitation when the stakes are so high? In my latest piece for Forbes, I talk about the unintended consequences of the greenwashing debate. The truth is, that achieving net zero requires all hands on deck — businesses, policymakers, innovators, and global leaders. Companies like Microsoft, Walmart, and Delta are taking real action to reduce emissions, but the fear of criticism is stifling progress. We need carbon markets, carbon capture, and sequestration to scale if we’re going to meet our climate goals. Yet, the overzealous focus on potential greenwashing risks derailing these efforts. Yes, we need to hold bad actors accountable. But let’s not shame companies into silence when they’re genuinely contributing to solutions. We need to strike a balance—scrutinize with purpose, celebrate real achievements, and foster an atmosphere where innovation can thrive.
