What an incredible Pride month! We spent this past weekend at the Chicago Pride Parade with our friends from Equality Illinois and Gap Inc. As we look back on the month, we're reminded that Pride isn't just a month, a parade, or any single event—it's a continuous celebration of love, acceptance, and equality. For GenderCool, Pride is the Champions and their peers living as their authentic selves. It's the joy of seeing these young people surrounded by thousands of community members who support them for who they are. It's hearing from people around the world who tell us about how GenderCool has impacted their lives and workplaces. It's every moment that transgender and nonbinary people are seen, loved, and raised up. There is still so much work to do, but with the strength of our community and leadership from young people, we know the world is changing into a kinder place for all.

Excited to join Inc. Magazine and my fellow panelists M.V. Lee Badgett and Marc Coleman for an important conversation on the LGBTQ+ community and economic freedom and empowerment. It’s an important topic at a precarious moment for our movement. Back in 2011, I helped lead the campaign for marriage equality in New York. Our win there created enormous momentum that culminated in the Supreme Court granting us the freedom to marry in all 50 states. It felt like continued progress was inevitable. I no longer feel that way. The Court that overturned Roe has already signaled that Obergefell could be in similar jeopardy. The onslaught of anti-trans state legislation continues. We still haven't passed the Equality Act. LGBTQ+ people have insufficient representation in the C-suite and in corporate boardrooms. Nearly half of employed LGBTQ+ Americans still believe being “out” at work could hurt their careers. Things could still get worse. The "anti-woke" movement and the prospect of another Trump presidency loom large. Many corporate leaders are stepping back or staying silent at the very moment we most need them to champion equality and opportunity for all. And this is all happening at a time when almost three-fourths of Americans support marriage equality and policies that protect LGBTQ+ Americans from discrimination. This Pride season, we can't take our progress for granted. It's time for our community and our allies to champion inclusion loudly and proudly in our workplaces, in our communities, and from the businesses we support.
Looking forward to convening this important conversation at Inc. Magazine for #Pride about economic empowerment in the LGBTQ+ community, with smart thinkers including: - The pathbreaking economist M.V. Lee Badgett of The Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law fame who is now the co-founder of a startup organization, Koppa - The LGBTI+ Economic Power Lab, Inc. - Marc Coleman, President and CEO of The Tactile Group, an Inc. 5000 digital-design company based in Philadelphia - And Brian Ellner, the longtime business leader, activist and advocate who now serves as president of the boutique CEO consultancy, One Strategy Group We'll discuss the many gains LGBTQ+ folks have made in recent decades, the link between civil rights gains (and some losses) and economic power, the way companies are responding to backlashes against everything from Pride marketing gimmicks to corporate employee resource groups, and how CEOs can create an inclusive, respectful company culture even at a time when the larger society seems increasingly hostile to LGBTQ+ visibility and representation. Please RSVP to join us or message me here.

Any idea where the last six months have gone? Because I’m finding it hard to believe we’re over half way through 2024 already. I do love June, though. Of all the months, I’d say this is my favourite. There’s a selfish reason for that—myself and Xander Willcox both celebrate our birthdays in the first week of the month. But June is also special for another reason. It’s Pride Month 🌈. As a bisexual woman, Pride gives me space to be my complete, authentic self, in a community that loves and supports without judgement (Cambridge Pride is one of my favourite days of the year because of this). It’s a month of celebration that I fully embrace. But it’s also a time to reflect on the challenges we face. The truth is, Pride exists because LGBTQIA+ people are not fully and freely accepted without prejudice. Discrimination means queer people are more likely to experience violence, sexual assault, unemployment, poverty, and mental health issues. As a business owner, it is important for me to use my privilege to promote diversity, inclusion, and equality. And give a platform to conversations. Because for every queer person celebrating, there’s another who can’t. If raising awareness turns one person into an ally, it’s another step towards a better life and future for the LGBTQIA+ community. Keep celebrating. Keep talking. Keep fighting. Keep being you. 🏳️🌈💖 #Diversity #Inclusion #Equality #PrideMonth #LoveIsLove #Authenticity #VisibilityMatters #NeurodivergentAndProud #XW3D #SummerBirthdays

JND Legal Administration, support that is superficial is getting called out these days. Supporting the LGBTQ+ community requires more than making a post and supporting gay white men… you’ve still got to work on eliminating racism and sexism in your workplace before you can be any kind of positive ally. Yes, I know Jennifer Keough and Neil Zola (who has either removed his profile, or is a sexist and racist coward who blocked me) don’t care. However, Jen seems to care about her social media image and Neil seems to care about liability. A push on both could help towards change. Holding yourself to the standards of Seattle would help your social media image, reduce liability, and if done correctly, would increase both morale and productivity. There’s a reason most business people in Seattle see taking care of your employees as a no brainer, common sense approach. #JNDLegalAdministration #classactions #civilrights #toxicworkenviroment #seattle #LGBTQ+ #alphabetmafia #neilzola
This Pride Month, JND celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community, honoring its rich history, resilience, and the ongoing fight for equality. It serves as a reminder of the courage it takes to live authentically and the progress achieved through decades of activism and solidarity. From the Stonewall Riots to modern-day advocacy, Pride Month is a time to acknowledge the contributions of LGBTQIA+ individuals to society, promote inclusivity, and continue the pursuit of justice and acceptance for all. As we celebrate with parades, festivals, and educational events, we reaffirm our commitment to standing with the LGBTQIA+ community in the pursuit of a world where everyone can live openly and freely. #pride2024 #inclusion #celebration

Today, we celebrate the courage and authenticity of those who come out and live their truth. National Coming Out Day is a powerful reminder of the importance of LGBTQIA+ inclusion in all aspects of life. Embracing and supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals means creating spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and accepted. Let’s stand together in solidarity, advocate for equality, and celebrate the diverse identities that enrich our communities. Every step towards inclusion brings us closer to a world where everyone can express their true selves without fear. The HACR - Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility is leading a powerful coalition of allied organizations representing historically underrepresented groups, including Asian Americans, Indigenous Peoples, people with disabilities, women, and Black and Hispanic communities. Launched in Washington, HACR President and CEO Cid Wilson began a 240+ mile trek from Capitol Hill to Wall Street in New York City’s financial district. Our commitment to change is unwavering. This is why we continue to work alongside our incredible partners, such as the Human Rights Campaign and the Association of LGBTQ+ Corporate Directors, to champion #DEI at every level of corporate leadership. Visit WalktoWallStreet.org to learn how you can get involved. Let’s stand up for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Together, we can make a difference. #HACR #DiversityEquityAndInclusion #CaminamosJuntos #NationalComingOutDay #LGBTQIA+Inclusion #CelebrateDiversity #BeYourself #SupportAndAcceptance

Pride Season is here—a time when we come together to celebrate love, diversity, and acceptance. But how do we share these values with those young around us? At (BUM), we believe it’s never too early to start the conversation about inclusivity and kindness. Here’s how you can help the discussion of Pride with the next generation. Why It's Important: Teaching children about Pride helps foster empathy and understanding from a young age. It prepares them to respect others' differences and embrace everyone’s unique identity. How to Start the Conversation: 🏳️🌈 Story Time: Use books with LGBTQ+ characters and themes. Titles like “A Tale of Two Princes”, "And Tango Makes Three" and "A Day In the Life of Marlon Bundo" offer wonderful stories of diversity and acceptance. 🏳️🌈 Celebrate Together: Participate in local Pride events or watch parades and documentaries about the history and significance of Pride. 🏳️🌈 Art and Expression: Encourage children to express what love and inclusivity mean to them through drawings, paintings, or crafts. Family Fun Activities: 🏳️🌈 Craft a Rainbow Flag: Teach them what each color stands for while crafting a flag together. 🏳️🌈 LGBTQ+ Heroes: Share stories of LGBTQ+ advocates and heroes who have championed equality and justice. 🏳️🌈 Questions and Answers: Let them ask questions, and guide them through the answers in a simple, understandable way. Join Us in Supporting LGBTQ+ Families At (BUM), we are committed to supporting LGBTQ+ families. A portion of every purchase from our products, no matter the time of year, go to organizations that make it easier for those in the queer space to become parents. From our family, to your family, for more families, Pat & Carlos Founders, (BUM) Bottoms Up Movement

Dogs aren’t just for Christmas and we're not just queer in June. If you would like support to make your workplace inclusive for intersectionally marginalised LGBTQIA+ people I would be delighted to help. Pride celebrations, inclusive campaigns and Pride talks are great but they need to be followed up with an equity strategy to support your LGBTQIA+ colleagues all year round. Maybe this June has shown you there is more work to be done in your organisation but you're not sure where to start or how to create lasting change... Get in touch to discuss: - LGBTQIA+ inclusive policies - Quant and qual insight finding - Goal setting and ERG support - Equity strategies - Education and training sessions - Culture change https://lnkd.in/eiidmzfT CD: Text shows '1st July: Companies putting their rainbows away until next year. 🌈 Pride Allyship: Fostering Inclusion and Support 🌈 As we celebrate Pride Month this June, let’s recognise the vital role allies play in supporting the LGBTQIA+ community. Effective allyship goes beyond mere labels; it’s about meaningful actions. Here are three key components to be a good ally: Acceptance: Embrace diversity. Accept individuals for who they are, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Show empathy and understanding. Humility: Recognise that you don’t know everything. Be open to learning and unlearning. Listen to LGBTQIA+ voices and experiences without assuming you have all the answers. Action: Advocate actively. Speak out against discrimination, support others in sharing their stories, and educate yourself about the invisible barriers faced by your LGBTQIA+ peers. But remember, true allyship extends beyond public spaces. It’s about standing up for the community even when they’re not in the room. Be their voice, challenge stereotypes, and create safe spaces everywhere you go. #PrideAllyship #InclusionMatters #DEI
