What is holistic wellness to you? I recently had a conversation with a colleague about this. The word “holistic" tends to get thrown around a lot, but it's never truly defined. To me, Wel at Humana is the true definition of "holistic wellness." We've adopted Exos' approach and encourage individuals to think of well-being in four main pillars. It's fine-tuning not only your physical health through movement, but it's dialing in on nutrition, channeling a growth mindset, and always prioritizing recovery. For peak performance – whether you're a professional athlete, corporate executive, or stay-at-home parent – you must maintain balance in all four areas. Striving for that balance is when we reach holistic wellness.

With a unique understanding of the economic and societal impacts of the launch of Derby City Gaming & Hotel, College of Business subject matter experts and faculty members Dr. Thomas Lambert and Dr. Nat Irvin II were asked to weigh in with their views about the potential financial boom the gaming business will bring to downtown Louisville. In a Courier Journal article, Lambert shared that while it is certain the venue will make money, factors such as "inflation and possible saturation of the games" could cause the facility to earn more than expected, noting the pinch consumers are facing with disposable income. "I think it will have a positive effect overall...particularly if it also helps to bring in folks back to downtown," noted the Assistant Professor of Practice for the Equine industry program. "This investment will help attract energy," Irvin said in an interview with WHAS-TV. The Assistant Dean for Thought Leadership and Civic Engagement noted, "When you have a place like Derby City Gaming, it brings energy, it brings resources, it brings money...which means you're going to have an opportunity for nonprofits, you have an opportunity for employment." BOLD MOVES BEING MADE - The FITTEST will be officially transforming into a League as of September 2024 (in the case below the UFL - University Fitness League). Never before has there been a structured league dedicated to fostering fitness and healthy competition. Had an interesting conversation yesterday with Dave (not their real name), who had some questions. Here's a sneak peek: Dave: Are you 'actually' starting a league? (said with an element of surprise in his voice) Me: Yes. Dave: Why? Me: Why not? Our goal is to create an infrastructure similar to traditional sports, allowing individuals to progress from school to university and beyond, representing their institutions and creating a lifelong passion for fitness. Dave: Will people buy into it? Me: We don't know, but every bold idea faced scepticism initially. There was a time when iPhones and social media didn't exist. Let's see how this unfolds. Come on March 8th to the showcase at the Gymshark Lifting Club, you'll find out more about it, like the league's governance, rules, fixtures, etc! You can ask any questions there as well. Dave: Can I grab a ticket? Me: Absolutely! I'll send you the link, and feel free to bring a friend and treats (for me) Also, just so you know, the league isn't a competition against other events; it's based on a democratised points system, encouraging training for other competitions. It's about innovation, participation, and creating a sense of belonging for those who aren't drawn to traditional sports or want the gym to be their sport. Dave: Ambitious Me: Indeed. Will it work? I met Carlo Facchino at a local coffee shop. But the thing is we weren't supposed to meet that afternoon. Matter of fact, I was there talking through some business development ideas with a few partners of mine, also small business owners here in Fremont. It makes so much sense though, how the universe ultimately connected us that day. Because Carlo is someone who was audacious enough to believe that he could literally row from California to Hawaii while sustaining himself at sea, all on his own, with nothing surrounding him except the blueness of the Pacific. Ultimately, it took him 72 days and he made it all the way to Hawaii. What's perhaps more amazing though, is that in so many ways, he's still on a journey of self-discovery and adventure, always thinking of the next incredible dream to pursue (even after accomplishing the impossible). To say I resonate with Carlo and the thoughts he shared at our last BTR TMRW event would be such an understatement. He embodies strength and optimism, and the audacious nature of the human condition. And though I haven't yet accomplished such monumental goals, that's the spirit upon which I've built my own life, and the future of my family. One of the main attractions for NBA fans is the Bankers Life Fieldhouse, home of the Indiana Pacers and host to numerous NBA games and events. However, the arena lacks any significant historical or cultural significance, making it a rather underwhelming attraction for non-sports enthusiasts. Another notable NBA-related attraction is the NCAA Hall of Champions, showcasing the history and achievements of college basketball. However, for those solely interested in the NBA, the focus on college basketball may not be as appealing. While Indianapolis may be hosting the NBA All-Star 2024, visitors seeking a more diverse and engaging tourist experience may find themselves disappointed by the lack of NBA-focused attractions in the city. Nonetheless, Bankers Life Fieldhouse and the NCAA Hall of Champions are worth a visit for basketball fans.

Now Brad joked and said, Do you wanna cut it?, and I totally said, funny, you should mention that...., but no, Brad cut. Long story- Click away. You know who you are (Those who give me marketing tips about long posts😜). Four years ago, I was sitting at my desk and got a phone call from my desk phone. CEO of Smash Park Entertainment Group. "Hey, we're looking at opening a Smash Park in Omaha. Can you help?" I think to myself, what's a Smash Park? I assume it's a Smash House (A place where you pay to break stuff). I answer him and ask, "What's a Smash Park?" He goes, "It's the Pickleball of TopGolf. Do you know what Pickleball is?" I light up. I answer, YES! How can I help? Made some phone calls. Connected with friends, and yes, Pickleball is a blast and way easier than tennis. Tennis isn't a joke. Four years later, Smash Park La Vista is Open. This place is awesome. Pickleball. Food. Electronic Axe throwing. Darts. 2 Giant Bars. It's a crazy, fantastic outdoor space with heaters everywhere for Fall and Colder months. It's super easy to drive to over by Cabela's. Check it out! The rule of 3’s… Three things that I know to be true, on this day, February 13 2024: 1. TaylorMade and Tiger are business partners in Pop Stroke, since November 2022. 2. Wes Edens and Rory are business partners in Drive Shack, for years now. 3. Topgolf is having an earnings call at 2pm PST. Three things I suspect are true, on this day: 1. Tiger is not a close friend of Greg Bartoli, owner of Pop Stroke, as was recently suggested in a timely article. 2. Tiger is a close friend of Rory’s, forever more, beginning during the summer of 2021. 3. The PIF, Taylormade, Tiger, and Rory, are planning to compete directly with Topgolf, effective immediately.
