What's happening in the social media world?📲 Here are a few of the latest updates: - Instagram is testing a "Friend Map" feature, which will allow users to tag their location, add notes, and see where their friends are. This is similar to Snapchat's "Snap Maps." - Tiktok is teaming up with Warner Bros to bring a new "Spotlight" feature to the app that will help users to discover movies and TV shows. This will highlight select titles where users will be directed to a landing page with more details about the show or movie. This will include short-form content form creators. - Threads is testing disappearing posts. These threads will disappear after 24 hours (and so will its replies). - YouTube is introducing features that will be provided to those with a subscription. One of those features includes the ability to automatically jump to the good or most useful parts of a video. This is done with the use of AI and viewership data. Social Media Updates You *Must* Know About: ByteDance is introducing a new photo-sharing app, Whee, tailored for connecting with friends and family. TikTok is experimenting with adding web links in organic video posts. A novel social network called Butterflies has emerged, offering a space where humans and AI can interact seamlessly. TikTok has rolled out Digital Avatars, enabling brands to leverage AI-generated avatars of real people to enhance their creative strategies on the platform. Instagram now supports adding music to carousel posts with videos, expanding beyond the previous limit of image-only carousels. YouTube is piloting community notes to provide viewers with additional context and information on videos. Adobe and TikTok have teamed up, integrating TikTok’s commercial music library into Adobe Express. Interesting facts about TikTok The 4th is crazy! 1) About 34% of TikTok users post content each day 2) TikTok creators can make $700-$2,000 weekly just by tagging products 3) Anyone on TikTok can earn $2 to $5 per product tag 4) The platform sees over 1 billion videos viewed daily 5) Users spend over 50 minutes per day on the app 6) TikTok is experimenting with AR technology in its Shop feature - this could allow users to virtually try products like clothes or makeup. I start thinking about joining TikTok An extra $700 weekly isn't bad! 😂

Despite recent legislation, TikTok isn't going anywhere - there's rumors of TikTok creating their own algo and data center for a US audience. What does this mean? Well, I'd still recommend figuring out a strategy around Vertical Assets since they should already be a part of your marketing mix with YouTube shorts and Meta ads... and consider adding TikTok into that mix if your demographic is there (and hint, they probably are). According to a forecast, by 2025, US adults are expected to invest more time on TikTok than on Facebook—a significant shift in user behavior.
